Martin BADEN, son of Peter and the late Margaret BADEN, died Thursday
at his home, Rochester and East New York avenues.  He was born in
Brooklyn thirty years.  He is survived by three brothers, Peter, Anthony and
John, and one sister, Sarah.  Funeral services will be held from his late
residence to-morrow at 9:20 A.M., thence to St. Matthew's Church,
Eastern Parkway and Utica avenue where requiem mass will be held with
interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Hanorah McCORMICK, who died on Friday at her home, 8807 Seventeenth
avenue, was born in Ireland and had been a resident of Brooklyn for more
than forty years.  She is survived by her husband, Thomas, and one daughter,
Mrs. James B. THOMSON, and two sons, Stephen and Thomas, Jr.  She
was a member of St. Finbar's Church, where requiem mass will be celebrated
to-morrow at 10:45 A.M.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction
of Ferdinand E. SELLE, of 684 Fifth avenue.

Edward SMITH died on Friday after a short illness at his home in Freeport
in his sixty-second year.  He had lived most of his life in Brooklyn and is
survived by his widow, Susan.  Funeral services will be held at his late
residence, 28 North Main street, Freeport, to-day at 2 P.M.  Interment at
Greenfield Cemetery.

John Francis SCHAEFER died yesterday after a short illness at his home,
182 Harman street.  He was born in Brooklyn eighteen years ago and was
a member of St. Barbara's Church.  He enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was
station at Pelham Bay.  He is survived by his parents, Barney and Eva
SCHAEFER, two sisters, May and Helen, and one brother, Frank.  Funeral
services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. with requiem mass at St. 
Barbara's Church.  Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of
Frank J. HANS, 470 Stanhope street.

Carolina FRY died Thursday at her home, 2717 Fort Hamilton Parkway.  She
was born in Philadelphia forty-eight years ago, and had lived in Brooklyn for
twenty-five years.  She is survived by her husband, Charles.  Funeral services
will be held in Philadelphia to-morrow.  She will be buried Tuesday at 2 P.M.
in the Northwood Cemetery, under direction of E. S. HIGGINS, 1289 Prospect avenue.

Anna Agnes McGUINNESS died on Friday of pneumonia at her home, 370a
Sixth avenue.  She was born in Manhattan fifty-four years ago, and had
lived in Brooklyn for thirty-five years.  She is survived by her husband, 
Luke,six daughters, Mary, Elizabeth, Anna, Grade, Anastasia and Agnes; one
son, John, of Utica, and six sisters.  Funeral services will be held at her 
late home Tuesday at 8 A.M., thence to St. Agnes' Church, Hoyt and Sackett
streets, where a requiem mass will be celebrated.  Interment will be in Holy
Cross Cemetery under direction of George DALY, 424 DeGraw street.

Dennis HICKEY died yesterday at his home, 353 Twentieth street.  He was
born in Ireland and had been a resident of Brooklyn for fifty years.  He was
in the trucking business..  He is survived by two sons, John and Cornelius.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.  Funeral services will
be held at his late residence on Tuesday at 10 A.M.  Interment at Holy Cross
Cemetery under direction of Ferdinand E. SELLE, of 684 Fifth avenue.

Elizabeth SEARING, widow of William Henry SEARING, died on Wednesday,
aged 97 years, at the home of her granddaughter, Mr. Richard D. DICKINSON, 
336 Bridge avenue, Mount Vernon, N. Y., where she was on a visit.  Her
home was with another granddaughter, Mrs. W. HAMILTON, at 424 Tenth
street, Brooklyn.  The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with interment
at St. Paul's Churchyard, Eastchester.

Dr. Henry W. ROSE died on Friday at his home, 644 Haley street, aged
69 years.  Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon by the Rev.
Dr. Louis O. ROSENBACH, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be at Cypress Hills Cemetery.  Dr. Rose is survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Mabel Theresa FITZGERALD, and a sister, Mrs. Theresa
SCHMIDLEIN, of Manhattan.  His wife, Josephine ARMSTRONG, died 
last December.  Dr. ROSE was a graduate of the Homeopathic Medical
College in Manhattan, and began practicing his profession in the Eastern
District where he was one of the organizers of the Eastern District
Homeopathic Dispensary on South Third street.  He was a member of the
Brooklyn Homeopathic Medical Society, past Regent of DeLong Council,
No. 725, R.A.; a member of Franklin Lodge No. 20, F. and A. M.; Palmer 
Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of Westerly; Narragansett Commandery,
No. 27, Knights Templar; Kismet Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine 
of Brooklyn, and the Unity Club.

Rhinehardt BELLINGER died Friday after a short illness at his home, 631
Baltic street.  He came to Brooklyn 50 years ago, and had worked for 
Wemple's Shade Factory for more than forty years.  He was an old member
of St. Augustine's R.C. Church and of the Holy Name Society.  He is
survived by his widow, Louise; two sons, William and Joseph; and one
daughter, Mrs. M. J. WALSH.  The funeral will be held from his late
residence on Tuesday morning, thence to St. Augustine's Church, where
requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30.  Interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Henry KUEHNLE died on Wednesday after a lingering illness at his home,
870 Knickerbocker avenue.  He was born in Brooklyn and is survived by his
parents, John and Minnie, and two brothers.  Funeral services will be held
at his late residence to-day at 1:30 P.M.  Interment at Lutheran Cemetery
under direction of John SEHY and Son, of 313 Central avenue.

Abraham E. GREENFIELD, a prominent resident of the Bath Beach
section, died early yesterday at his home, 1854 Eighty-second street, 
of pneumonia at the age of twenty-six years.  Mr. GREENFIELD was a
member of Brooklyn Lodge 22, B. P.O.E.; Goulet Lodge 918, F. and A.M.,
Long Grotto, New York Consistory Kismet Temple of Mystic Shriners,
Congregation Sons of Israel, Bay Ridge Hospital, Hebrew National Orphan
House and Brooklyn Federation of Charities.  Funeral services will be held
at his late residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Joseph WEISS died on Friday at his home, 585 Myrtle avenue.  He was born 
in Brooklyn thirty-one years ago, a son of George and Mary WEISS.  He was
employed as a chauffeur and is survived besides his parents by his widow,
Jeanette; one son, Joseph, Jr.; one daughter, Mildred; and three brothers
and two sisters.  Funeral services will be held to-night at 8 o'clock, with 
interment at Lutheran Cemetery, under direction of John W. MADDEN, of
628 Myrtle avenue.

Elizabeth HANIHAN died yesterday at her home, 581 Bedford avenue.  She
was born in Brooklyn forty-five years ago, a daughter of Thomas and the late
Helen O'LEARY.  She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Kent and
Willoughby avenues, and is survived, in addition to her father, by her 
husband,
Thomas; one son, Charles, who is in France; two daughters, two sisters and
two brothers.  Funeral services will be held at her late home on Tuesday at
2 P.M., with interment at St. John's Cemetery.

Landrum W. WYATT died on Friday after a short illness in Long Island
College Hospital.  He was born in Virginia, and had lived in Brooklyn for
twenty-five years.  He was a son of Hannah and the late James A. WYATT,
and was in the machinery business in Manhattan.  He is survived by four
brothers, Fred, who is connected with the Navy Department in Washington;
George and Harry of Brooklyn, and Joseph, of Long Island; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held to-day at 2 P.M. at 195 Court street, the Rev.
Dr. COLLINS officiating.  Interment at Cypress Hills Cemetery under 
direction of William J. HURLEY, of 195 Court street.

Patrick HART, formerly a resident of Brooklyn, died suddenly on Wednesday,
at Morgan, N. J.  He had been employed by John CARMODY, boss grain
trimmer, and was a member of the Grain Trimmers' Union.  Funeral services
were held yesterday at 1:30 P.M. at 442 Tenth street.  Interment at Holy
Cross Cemetery under direction of Nicholas C. DYLAN, of 334 Smith street.

John AUMILLER of 947 Jefferson avenue, died Friday at his home.  He was
born in Brooklyn fifty-seven years ago and had been a life-long resident
of this borough.  He was a lumber by occupation was a member of Court
Garringe, 43, F. of A.; and Old Glory Council 72, A. O. M.  Funeral services
will be held at his late residence at 8 P.M. to-morrow, with burial on Tuesday
at 9:30 A. M. in Lutheran Cemetery.  He leaves a widow, Henrietta; two
sons, John and Theodore; three brothers and one sister.

Frank P. McGRATH died yesterday at his home, 287 Twenty-first street.
He was born in Brooklyn forty-four years ago, and is survived by his mother,
Mary, and five children, Francis, May, John, Edward and James. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M., wit requiem mass at St. John
the Evangelist Church.  Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction

WILLIAM E. TUTTLE
A military escort of eighteen sailors will take part in the funeral to-morrow of
William E. TUTTLE, who died in Scotland of pneumonia.  Requiem mass
will be celebrated at 9:30 A. M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Euclid avenue
and Fulton street, of which Mr. TUTTLE was a member.  He had seen three
years' service in the navy and was water tender on the U.S.S. Wyoming.  He
was a nephew of Deputy Sheriff William TUTTLE.  He is survived by his
parents, Jeremiah and Anna TUTTLE, of 70 Milford street, three brothers,
Edward, Charles and Thomas, and a sister, Mrs. Matilda WEBSTER.

Frederick KORNRUMPF, who had been in the chemical warfare service since
May, died of pneumonia on Saturday in Cleveland, O.  He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-four years ago, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church,
Milton street.  His home was at 283 Grove street.  He is survived by his widow,
Mr. Mary KORNRUMPF, and five brothers, Arthur, Louis, William, who is in
France; Henry and Charles.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at

of 1434 Myrtle avenue.

Bridget McGOUGH BAKER died Nov. 30 at her home, 553 Fifty-seventh 
street.  She was born in Ireland fifty-six years ago, had been a resident of 
Brooklyn for thirty-one years, was a member of St. Paul's Church, and is
survived by her husband, Patrick; two sons, Patrick, Jr., a member of the
Fire Department, and William; two daughters, Annie and Agnes.  The funeral
will be held from her late home at 8:30 A.M. to-morrow, thence to St. Paul's
Church, Court and Congress streets, where mass will be celebrated.

Grace BYRNES died yesterday at her home, 1416 Gates avenue.  She was
born in Ireland and had lived in Brooklyn for sixty years.  She was a member of

Patrick KEAN died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Minnie HAGUE, 
236 Tenth street, after a lingering illness.  He is survived, besides the latter,
by a son, Joseph.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Thomas
Aquinas R.C. Church, Ninth street and Fourth avenue, where there will be a
requiem mass next Wednesday at 9:30 A.M.  Interment in Holy Cross

Catherine GRADY, widow of Frank GRADY, died yesterday at her home, 5711
Fifth avenue.  She was born in Ireland and had lived in Brooklyn for twenty-five
years.  She was a member of the Holy Family Society of Our Lady of Perpetual
Help Church and is survived by one son, Peter, and five grandchildren.  Requiem
mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning in the Church of Our Lady of
Perpetual Help, Fifty avenue and Fifty-ninth street.  Interment in Holy Cross

Ellen M. DUFF, widow of Edward DUFF, died at her home, 358 Forty-first
street, on Saturday.  She was born in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and had
lived in Brooklyn for thirty years.  She is survived by a daughter, Helen P.
DUFF, and a niece, Mae F. CARROLL.  For a number of years she had been
a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Benevolent Association, No. 667.  Funeral
services will be conducted at St. Michael's Church, Fourth avenue and Forty-
second street, to-morrow at 10 A.M.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of R. C. FARLEY, of 463 Court street.

Jeremiah CAHILLY died yesterday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Eugene
LILLISTON, 109 Sandford street, at whose home funeral services will be held
on Wednesday at 2 P.M.  He was born in Brooklyn and had always lived
in the Twenty-first Ward.  He had been employed for a number of years at
the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  His death was caused by apoplexy.  He is survived
by three sisters, Mrs. Mary SIMPSON, Mrs. Margaret BIRNEY, and Mrs.
Eugene LILLISTON, and a brother, Timothy.  Interment at Holy Cross
Cemetery under direction of George T. McHUGH, of 744 Myrtle avenue.

Minnie SCHAFER died last Saturday morning at her home, 152 North
Ninth street.  She was born in Brooklyn twenty-one years ago and is
survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil SCHAFER, two brothers,
Charles and Harry, and five sisters, Frieda, Anna, Florence, Mrs. Mary
POWELL and Mrs. Margaret MEAL.  The funeral will take place to-morrow
at 2 P.M., with interment in Evergreens Cemetery, under the direction
of John K. WEIGAND of 207 Nassau avenue.

Bridget FLYNN died yesterday at her home, 392 St. Marks avenue.  She
was born in Ireland seventy-five years ago and came to this country in 1880,
making her home in Pittston, Pa.  Fifteen years ago she moved to Brooklyn.
She was the widow of John FLYNN, who died in 1914.  She is survived by
one daughter, Mary, and one son, John J.  Funeral services will be conducted
at her late home on Wednesday at 9 A.M., and the burial will take place in
Pittston, Pa., under direction of Louis W. FARRELL, of 302 Jay street.

Emmage BRONSON, widow of H. Nelson BRONSON, U.S.A., died yesterday
at her home, 56 East Fifth street, in her seventy-sixth year.  Arrangements
for the funeral have not been completed.

Mary E. KEEGAN died yesterday at her home, 401 Cornelia street.  She was
born in Manhattan and had lived in Brooklyn ever since she was a child.  She
was a member of the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, and later of St. Martin of
Tours.  She is survived by two sons, one of whom, Private William KEEGAN,
is now serving in France; three daughters; four sisters, and a brother.  Requiem
mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning in the Church of St. Martin
of Tours.  Interment at Calvary Cemetery under direction of J. J. GALLAGHER,
of 25 Aberdeen street.

Thomas J. SHUTTLEWORTH died at his home, 475 Forty-third street, on 
Friday.  He was born in Brooklyn and is survived by his widow, Barbara; two
children, Ethel and Walter, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary QUIGLEY and Mrs.
McVEIGH.  Funeral services will be held at his late home to-morrow at 2
P.M.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery under direction of H. LENNERT, of

Catherine M. ALBRECHT, who died yesterday at her home, 2091A Pacific
street, is survived by her husband, William, four children, Evelyn, William,
Katherine and Charles; a sister, Mrs. John COUNAS, and a brother, James
MASSEY.  Requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict's R. C. Church
on Wednesday, at 10 o'clock.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under

Susan M. ORR, born in Manhattan seventy-eight years ago, a daughter of the
late Samuel and Mary DONOHUE ORR, died on Saturday after several
months illness in St. Mary's Hospital.  She had been a resident of Brooklyn 
and a member of St. John the Baptist R. C. Church, Lewis and Willoughby
avenues, for the past fifty years and up to ten years ago had been employed
by the Board of Education as expert instruction in drawing.  She retired after
forty-eight years of continuous service as a public school teacher and
instructor in drawing.  A mass of requiem will be celebrated by Father FERRY 
at St. Mary's Hospital Chapel to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock.  She is survived
by her cousin, Samuel A. MURRAY.  Interment in the family plot at Calvary
Cemetery under direction of William DUNIGAN and Son, of 201 Park avenue.

William ELLIS, born in Brooklyn thirty-five years ago, a son of the late Peter
and Elizabeth RAECRAFF ELLIS, died on Saturday after a brief illness.  He
was educated in the public schools and had been employed by the Gutta
Percha Rubber Company as a belt maker for the past fifteen years.  He was
a member of the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, the pastor of which, Dr.
MacRURY, will conduct services at his late residence, 1127 Boyd avenue,
Woodhaven, this evening at 8 o'clock.  He is survived by his widow, Jane
Ann DIXON; one son, Walter; one brother, Joseph, and a sister, Mrs.
Margaret CARROLL.  Interment will be made in the family plot at Cedar
Grove Cemetery to-morrow afternoon, under direction of William DUNIGAN 
and Son, 201 Park avenue.

Florence M. von der SCHMIDTT, formerly of Brooklyn, died last Friday at
her home, 73 Seventh street, Ridgefield Park, N. J., in her twenty-ninth

Ridgewood.  Mr. WENZEL was born in Brooklyn thirty-three years ago.
His widow and three children survive.

Mary AMEND of 1861 Stockton street, died Sunday of pneumonia.  She was
born in Germany in 1860, had lived here for forty years and is survived by her
husband, Franz AMEND, and two daughters, Justine and Mary.  She was 
a member of the Christian Mother and Altar Societies of the Church of St.
Aloysius, where requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. to-morrow.

Minnie M. KARPEN, 31 years old, a member of Hillside Chapter, No. 548,
O.E.S., died yesterday at her home, 550 Oxford avenue (104th street),
Richmond Hill.  She was born in Brooklyn on April 11, 1888, and is survived
by her husband, Harry N.; two daughters, Carolyn and Audrey; her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. George HIRT; a brother, George HIRT, Jr., and a sister, Belle.
Funeral services will be held at her late home to-morrow at 8 P.M., the Rev.
Andrew MAGILL officiating.  Burial Wednesday in Cypress Hills Cemetery.

Louisa C. FRIEDRICH died last Saturday morning at her home, 98 Eckford
street.  She was born in New York City sixty-eight years ago and is survived
by four sons, Adolph, George, William and Erwin; four daughters, Lena,
Mrs. Katherine SHORTT, Mrs. Wilhelmina DUERR and Mrs. Anna BELLMAN;
twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  The funeral will take place
Wednesday at 2 P.M. from her late home, thence to St. Paul's Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Leonard street, of which the deceased was a member.  The

Henrietta W. BRUSSEL, widow of Henry BRUSSEL, died yesterday, aged
65 years, at her home, 244 Fifty-second street.  She had lived in the Bay
Ridge section for more than twenty years.  She is survived by one daughter,
Minerva, and four sons, Albert, William, Ernest and Paul.  Funeral services
will be held at her late home to-morrow at 8:30 P.M., the Rev. H. C. A.
MEYER of St. Jacobi's Lutheran Church, officiating.  Interment Wednesday

Margaret A. DICKSON, wife of George W. DICKSON, died on Saturday at
her home, 328 Forty-fourth street.  She was born in Manhattan sixty-one
years ago and had long been a resident of Bay Ridge.  Besides her husband,
she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Patrick McGUIRE and Mr. William
HAYNES, and three sons, Walter, William, with the American Expeditionary
Forces in France, and Alexander, attached to the Navy Department.  The
funeral will be held from her late home on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M., with
requiem mass in St. Michael's Church.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery,
under direction of J. E. CLARKE of 4409 Third avenue.

William H. R. KILLEEN, who died last Wednesday at Asheville, N.C., was
a member of the Catholic Young Men's Association of White street,
Manhattan, and of St. Teresa's Church, Classon avenue and Sterling place.
Funeral services will be held to-morrow at 1- o'clock at his late home, 400Park place.

Private Adolph R. SCHAFFNER, son of Mr. and Mrs. John SCHAFFNER,
died in Cherbourg, France, of pneumonia, on Oct. 14.  He was born in 
Brooklyn twenty-eight years ago and attended Public School 85 and
Wright's Business College.  He is survived by his parents, two sisters.
Another sister, Margaret, died of pneumonia on Oct. 15, one day after her brother.

Joseph R. WALSH, son of Thomas and Anna O'ROURKE WALSH, died
yesterday at his home, 1295 Atlantic avenue, after a brief illness.  He was
born in Brooklyn twenty-one years ago and was associated with his father
in the garage business at 1909 Atlantic  avenue.  Besides his parents, he
is survived by a brother, William.  He was a member of the Holy Name 
Society of the Church of Our Lady of Victory, Throop avenue and McDonough
street.  The funeral will be held from his late home on Wednesday at 9:30
A.M.  Requiem mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, with

Ida BURLING, 56 years old, died on Saturday at her home, 133 Concord

Charles McCUTCHEON died yesterday at his home, 311 State street, after
a short illness.  He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles G. DAVIS and

in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of E. L. STEVENSON, of 229

Jane NOONAN, widow of the late James J. NOONAN, died Saturday at her
home, 868 Driggs avenue at the age of forty-seven years.  She was born in
County Donegal, Ireland, but had lived in this country many years.  For a
number of years she had been a member of the Church of the Epiphany in
South Ninth street.  She leaves a son, James V. NOONAN, who is employed
in the electrical department of the Brooklyn Navy Yard; a brother, Hugh
McMENIMEN, and a sister, Mr. Bridget SWIFT.  A solemn requiem mass
will be celebrated in the Church of the Epiphany on Wednesday at 10 A. M.
Interment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of
William T. FOLEY, of 270 Marcy avenue.

Joseph T. SLAVIN, Jr., fifteen years old, of 179 South Fourth street, died
Saturday in the Eastern District Hospital from an operation on his leg,
which he injured six months ago by jumping from a fence.  He was the
son of Joseph T. SLAVIN, organist of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church and
St. Ann's Church.  He was born in the Eastern District and was a member of
St. Peter and Paul's Church, on Wythe avenue.  He was also the nephew
of Dr. James SLAVIN of the Eastern District.  Funeral services will be held
at his late home on Wednesday at 9 A.M., after which a requiem mass will
be celebrated in SS. Peter and Paul's Church.  Interment will be made in

John Joseph COLLINS died Saturday at his home, 155 Bedford avenue.  He
was born in Lowell, Mass., Nov. 28, 1858, and had been a resident of the
Eastern District for more than forty-five years.  He was in the employ of the
Standard Oil Company's Pratt Works for thirty years and was member of
Lexington Council, K. of C.  He leaves a widow, Mary A. COLLINS, a son,
Edward, a letter-carrier attached to Station W, and one granddaughter.  The
funeral will be held at his late home to-morrow at 9:30 A.M., and will be
followed by a solemn requiem mass at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 
North Sixth street.  The burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery under the

Anna E. BRENNAN died yesterday at her home, 224 Union street, of 
pneumonia.  She was born in Brooklyn fourteen years ago and was
graduated from St. Peter's Academy.  She attended St. Joseph's

captain of transportation, who is not in France; a sister, Marion; a brother,
Matthew, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew BRENNAN.

Rita CRAIG died yesterday at her home, 132 York street.  She was born in
New Jersey and had lived in Brooklyn a number of years.  She is survived

SLAIN MAN VICTIM OF DEADLY FUSILLADE
Giovanni CANGERA, 26 years old, of 341 East Forty-first street, Manhattan,
was shot and killed last night in front of 35 Coles street.  Policeman KEONE
of the Hamilton avenue station, who heard the shots, rushed to the scene and
arrested Joseph PECCARELLA, 34 years old, of 71 Rapelye street. A fully
loaded revolver was found on PERCARELLA.  Two other revolvers with empty
chambers were picked up later near where CANGERA's body was found.
Eleven bullet wounds were found on the latter.

FURRIER FOUND DEAD IN GAS-FILLED ROOM
Lawrence BIENL, of 30 St. Edwards street, was found dead in bed
this morning by his wife, with the windows of his room closed and
gas escaping from several jets.
BIENL, who was a furrier, had been depressed for some time past
over business troubles.

FINDS SUICIDE'S BODY DANGLING IN MIDAIR
Forcing his way early to-day into a room in his home, the door of which
had been locked, Jacob AUSTIN, of 543 Marcy avenue, was startled at
sight of a body dangling in midair.  He summoned Patrolman John SEERY,
who cut the rope.  The suicide was identified as Jacob COHEN, 38 years
old, of 197 Stockton street.  No reason is know for COHEN's act.

at 10 A.M., for John ENRIGHT, who died yesterday at his home, 18
Garden place.  For fifteen years he was storekeeper in the Register
Meter Bureau, Department of Water, Gas and Electricity.  He was born
in Limerick, Ireland, and had lived in this country for sixty years.  He 
had lived in the Sixth Ward for fifty years.  He is survived by his widow,
Ellen, and two sons, Denis and Daniel.  He was a member of St. Peter's
Church and the Holy Name Society.

CATHERINA C. H. ZELTMAN
Funeral services will be held to-morrow at 8 P.M. for Mrs. Catherina C.
HACKER ZELTMAN, 60 years old, of 1068 Sixty-seven street, who died
on Sunday after a long illness.  Interment Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born in Germany and came to Brooklyn thirty years ago.  She
is survived by her husband, William, six sons, Gottlieb, William, Jr.,
George, Edward, Henry and Frederick, and two daughters, Mrs.
Elizabeth SWALE and Mrs. Bertha FORD.  Two of her sons, Henry and
Frederick, are members of the U.S. army in France.  Both were wounded in action.

Abraham PEDERSEN, a ship carpenter on the steamship Hendrick 
Ibsen, died on Sunday in his fifty-second years.  He was born in Norway.
Funeral services at 1:30 P.M. at the Norwegian Seamen's Church in 
Pioneer street.  Interment at Linden Hill Cemetery under direction of
Henry J. FLOOD, of 297 Van Brundt street.  He is survived by his
widow and four children in Bergen, Norway.

Mrs. Isaac GERARD, who died at Sydney, N.S., on Nov. 29, aged 75
years, was well known in South Brooklyn, where she lived with her 
daughter, Mrs. E. M. McCARTHY, at 443 Forty-fifth street.  She is
survived by three sons and five daughters.  She took great interest in
church work and British war relief work.  Her grandson, Clyde GERARD,
of Liverpool, Eng., was killed in 1917 with the British Forces.

Mrs. Jacob KEMPF, 42 years old, died on Sunday of influenza and 
bronchial pneumonia at her home, 422 Bleecker street.  She is survived
by her husband and one son, Edward.  Funeral services will be held at
her late home to-morrow at 2 P.M.  Interment in Lutheran Cemetery
under direction of R. STUTZMAN, of Stanhope street.

MARY E. BRYANT
Services were conducted this afternoon for Mary E. BRYANT who died
at her home, 213 St. James place, last Friday, after a year's illness.
The Rev. W. I. SOUTHERTON of the Baptist Temple officiated.
Interment was made at Greenwood Cemetery.  She is survived by her
husband, Elbert S., a daughter, Eva, and four sons, Harry S., Charles,
Herbert B. and Melville.

MARIE S. EHRIG
Marie SCHLESEA EHRIG, 56 years old, who died on Sunday at her
home, 15 Windsor place, had been a resident of Brooklyn for thirty
years.  Death was caused by pneumonia.  Funeral services will be
conducted to-night at 8 o'clock at her late home by the Rev. John
RAUSCHER and interment will be made to-morrow at Greenwood
Cemetery.  She was a member of the Twelfth Street Reformed Church,
of which Dr. RAUCHER is the pastor.  She is survived by her husband,
two sons, Edward L., and William C. and a granddaughter, Louise Marie EHRIG.

Charles Rushmore BURCH, 42 years old, who died of pneumonia on
Saturday, and for whom funeral services were conducted yesterday
afternoon, had been a life-long resident of Brooklyn.  He died at the
home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Herbert R. HAMMETT in the Stuart Arms,
1236 Pacific street, with whom he lived.  The services were held in the
Chapel of Oscar A. ROCH, 122 Messerole avenue, and were conducted
by the Rev. Theodore F. HENDERSON, a brother-in-law  who is Methodist
Bishop of Detroit.  Interment was made at Woodlawn Cemetery.  Mr.
BURCH was born in Brooklyn, a son of the late Rev. Thomas H. and
Mary ROSS BURCH.  His father was pastor of several Brooklyn
churches.  He died in 1900.  The son is survived by a sister, Mrs. John
MOONEY, of Denver Col.

AGNES H. M. KREUTZER
Services were held this afternoon for Agnes H. MORRISEY KREUTZER,
28 years old, wife of Julius J. KREUTZER of 531 Autumn (formerly
Railroad) avenue, Cypress Hills, who died last Saturday of pneumonia.
Interment was made at Evergreen Cemetery.  She was born in Brooklyn
and is survived by her husband, an electrician; three children and a
brother, William MORRISEY.

JOHN D. F. HINNERS
A delegation from the Royal Arcanum will attend funeral services for
John D. Frederick HINNERS to-morrow at 8:30 P.M.  Mrs. HINNERS,
who died suddenly on Sunday at his home, 426 First street, was for
many years a member of New York Council, No. 848, R.A..  He was
born in Bremen, Germany, and had lived in this country for fifty-two years.
For a number of years he was in the grocery business in Harlem.  He
retired from business thirty years ago and for fifteen years had been a
resident of Brooklyn.  He is survived by his widow, Rosalie, 69 years old,
and a daughter, Mrs. William SCHMITT, of 429 Third street.  Interment
on Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery.

Marie CHASEN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin CHASEN, died
yesterday at her home, 51 Russell street.  The funeral was held this
morning with interment under direction of John K. WEIGAND of 207
Nassau avenue.

Frederick DEPENBROCK, who died yesterday at his home, 383 Stanhope
street, was born in Germany sixty-eight years ago, and had been a 
resident of Brooklyn for fifty-two years. He was a member of St. Johannes
Church and was a cabinet maker by trade.  He is survived by his widow.
The Rev. M. BAYER of St. Johannes Church will conduct funeral services
on Thursday, at 2 P.M.  Interment at Lutheran Cemetery under direction
of Michael DIRKES of 1844 Meeker avenue.

James BAIRD, born in Scotland, died yesterday at his home, 158
Clarkson avenue.  He was a member of Clan MacDONALD, No. 33,
and was employed as a machinist.  He is survived by his widow, Nellie.
Funeral services will be held to-morrow, at 8 P.M., with interment on
Thursday at 10 A.M. at Evergreen Cemetery.

Joseph J. COLLINS, a pipefitter for the Standard Oil Company, died on
Saturday at his home, 155 Bedford avenue.  He was born in Massachusetts
fifty-five years ago, and had been a resident of the Eastern District for 
forty-five years.  He is survived by his widow, Mary, and a son, Edward,
a letter carrier attached to Station W.  The funeral was held this morning
with requiem mass in the Church of St. Vincent de Paul.  Interment at
Calvary Cemetery.

Amelia P. ELY, born in Athens, N. Y., seventy-five years ago, and a
resident of Brooklyn for many years, died on Saturday at her home, 1335
Carroll street.  She is survived by a son, Robert ELY, and a granddaughter,
Roberta A.  The funeral services were held last evening at her late home,
with interment to-day at Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for John W. ASHMORE, who died suddenly yesterday at
his desk in the "Eagle" office, where he was employed as a copy reader,
will be held on Thursday evening at his late home, 2709 Newkirk avenue.
He is survived by his widow, Florence, and three daughters, Mrs. W. J.
NAGLE, Mrs. Hard ENGLE and Dorothy ASHMORE.

Mary Elizabeth LARKIN, daughter of the late Simon and Margaret
LARKIN, died on Sunday at the home of her sister.  Mrs. Fred WEITMAN,
329 Union street.  In addition to her sister she is survived by two brothers,
William J. and Simon P.  The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 A.M.
with requiem mass in St. Agnes' R.C. Church.  Interment at Holy Cross

Catherine V. POWERS, born in Brooklyn thirty years ago, a daughter of
the late John MANNING, died yesterday after a short illness at her home,
187 Bond street.  She is survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters,
her mother, Annie MANNING, and a sister, Mrs. James E. LENNON.  The
funeral will be held-tomorrow at 2 P.M. with interment at Holy Cross 
Cemetery under direction of Peter DORAN, of 210 Hoyt street.

Anders CARLSEN, who died on Sunday in Greenpoint Hospital of
pneumonia, was born in Sweden fifty-two years ago.  The funeral was
held this morning from the chapel of John K. WEIGAND, 207 Nassau
avenue.  Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

David MEISSNER died yesterday at his home, 2527 Woodbine.  He was
born in Roslyn sixty-two years ago and is survived by his widow, Phoebe E.,
four sons, Edgar L., Jerovine H., David, Jr., Kirby, and two daughters,
Anna and Mabel, and three grandchildren.  He was a member of Newtown
Council No. 747, Royal Arcanum, which will conduct funeral services
to-morrow morning in the family plot at Mount Olivet Cemetery, under
Direction of John K. WEIGAND, of 468 Fresh Pond road.

Henry PENTON, who died on Sunday at the home of his daughter, Anna E.
PENTON, 418 Clermont avenue, had for many years suffered from heart
trouble.  Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Lefferts
Place Chapel, 86 Lefferts place.  Mr. PENTON was born in England, 
seventy-one years ago.  For thirty years he was a resident of Canada,
serving as sanitary inspector of Barrie, Ont., for many years.  Six years
ago he came to Brooklyn and made his home with his daughter at the
Clermont avenue address.  He is survived by his widow, Anna SCOTT
PENTON; three sons, Harry, William and Jack, and two daughters,
Anne E. and Mrs. MALCOMSON, of Canada.  He was a member of the
Sons of England Association.  His son Jack is a member of the Forestry
Division of the 157th Overseas Canadian Regiment.  Another son, Stanley,
who was a member of the 157th Overseas Canadian Regiment, was killed
in action in France on Sept. 4.

Margaret CORRIGAN died on Saturday after a lingering illness at her home,
240 Bond street.  She was born in Ireland and had been a resident
of Brooklyn for a number of years.  She was a member of the Third Order
of St. Francis, St. Agnes R.C. Church and the Ladies Catholic Benevolent
Legion, St. Agnes' Branch, No. 243.  She is survived by a niece, Mrs. 
Jennie FAYES.  The funeral was held this afternoon from the parlors of 
Peter DORAN, 210 Hoyt street, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Charles JOHNSTON, a boss carpenter, died yesterday at his home, 10
Herkimer court.  He was born in Brooklyn and is survived by two daughters,
three sons, three brothers, a sister and his mother.  He was a member of
the Church of Our Lady of Victory.  The funeral will be held on Thursday at
2 P.M. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of FEENEY
& Son, of 1857 Broadway.

Mary C. BARRETT died on Sunday at her home, 228 Hull street.  She was
born in England and had been a resident of Brooklyn for twenty-four years.
She was a member of the Rosary Sodality and the League of the Sacred
Heart of Our Lady of Lourdes R. C. Church.  She is survived by her husband,
Lieut. John B. BARRETT, of Engine Company 237, and two sons, John J.
and Francis A.  The funeral will be held to-morrow in the Church of Our Lady

Henry EDEN of Greenpoint, a retired grocer, died on Sunday at his home, 
341 Smith street.  He was born in Germany seventy years ago and had been
a resident of Brooklyn for more than fifty years.  He was formerly a member
of the United Retail Grocers Association.  He is survived by three sons,
Henry, George and William, and five daughters, Mrs. Anna LISBERGER,
Mrs. Celia DEGENHARDT, Mrs. Etta WITSEL, Mrs. Dorothy HILL, and
Elsie EDEN.  Funeral services will be held to-morrow evening at 8:30 
o'clock in the Lefferts Place Chapel, 86 Lefferts place.  Interment on Thursday.

Simon GROSS, who died on Sunday at the Jewish Hospital, was born in
Poland sixty-two years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for ten
years.  e was a member of the Odd Fellows and the F. and A.M., the
Israelitlacher Brueder Verein Blumenthal, No. 1, and the Leslie Aid Society.
He is survived by his widow, Lottie, and two brothers, Abraham and Joseph.

Elizabeth HANLON died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert

Lieut. Thomas A. BUTLER, of the New York Police Department, died
yesterday at his home, 387 Pulaski street, after a long illness.  He was
born in Manhattan fifty-four years ago, and had been a resident of Brooklyn
for nine years.  He was a member of the Legion of Honor of the Police
Department and of the Holy Name Society attached to St. John the Baptist
R. C. Church.  He was appointed to the police force on March 31, 1886 and
had been a lieutenant for fifteen years.  He was formerly attached to the
Detective Bureau.  He is survived by his widow, Louise;a daughter, Marjorie;
his mother, Margaret, and two brothers, James, a policeman, and Jack,
a retired policeman.  The funeral will be held on Friday at 10 A.M. with

Frederick A. MEYERS, husband of Emma P. MEYERS, died on Sunday at
his home, 1101 Jamaica avenue, Union Course.  He was a member of the 
Red Man Lanape Tribe No. 48; the West End Wine and Liquor Dealers'
Association and the Leggett Avenue Neighbors Club.  Mr. MEYERS was
a resident of the Bushwick section for nineteen years, having been in the
retail shoe business at 905 Flushing avenue, where he entered the retail
wine and liquor business at 1101 Jamaica avenue.  He is survived by his
widow, Emma; one daughter, Rose, four sisters, Mrs. Kate HOFFMAN, Mrs.

Helen G. COLEMAN, 23 years old, who died on Sunday at her home, 8643
107th street (formerly Harold avenue), Richmond Hill, was for nearly five
years organist of the Methodist Church of Elwood during the pastorate of
the Rev. Dr. C. C. COILE.  Funeral services will be conducted to-night at
8 o'clock at her late home, and Dr. COILE, who was also pastor of Trinity
Methodist Church of Richmond Hill, but is now station at Winsted, Conn.,
will officiate.  Miss COLEMAN's death was caused by pneumonia.  She was
born in Floral Park and was graduated from the Northport High School.  She is
survived by her parents, Wilford W. and Augusta COLEMAN; two sisters,
Estelle and Carrie, and a brother, George, who is a first class fireman in the
Navy Department and now aboard a scout patrol in French waters.  Interment
to-morrow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mary M. GORMAN REILLY, born in Newberryport, Mass., twenty-nine years
ago, and a resident of Brooklyn for eighteen years, died on Sunday at her
home, 1354 Sterling place.  She is survived by her husband, Terrance J.;
a daughter, Lydia; her father, James; two brothers, John and James, Jr.,
two sisters, Mrs. LOMBARD of Bridgeport, Conn., and Mrs. BOOHER.  The

Samuel HARDY, a retired police captain and a veteran of the Civil War,
died on Monday of pneumonia at his home, 376 East Seventh street.  He
was born in Manhattan seventy-six years ago, and had been a resident of
Brooklyn for a number of years.  He joined the old Metropolitan Police
Force when 21 years old, was detailed to Brooklyn for duty and for many
years was attached to the Bedford avenue station.  He retired in 1903.  
He was one of the organizers of the Seymour Democratic Club, and
Mansfield Post, G.A.R.  He is survived by his widow and one daughter.

Ellen M. De BLOIS, who died on Sunday at her home, 252 Hancock street,
in her ninetieth year, was long prominent in Unitarian circles.  She is
survived by a son, William A. De BLOIS; two grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren, and a brother, Frank TREMERE, of Boston Mass., who is
92 years old.  Funeral services yesterday were conducted by the Rev. John
Haines HOLMES, pastor of the Church of the Messiah, Manhattan.  Interment
at Mount Auburn, Mass.

Mrs. August ROEHSNER died on Monday at her home, 723 Lexington 
avenue.  She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Elizabeth, and a
son, George.  Funeral services will be held at her late home at 8 o'clock

Alice K. YOUNG, wife of Daniel F. YOUNG, died on Sunday of heart
trouble.  She was born in Manhattan fifty-nine years ago and formerly
lived inn the Washington Heights section, where she was a member of the
Intercession Chapel of Trinity Church, at 155th street and Broadway.

Henry RASSIGA died suddenly on Monday at his home, 159 Russell
street.  He was born in Manhattan 65 years ago and is survived by his
widow, Lenore; one brother, Charles; and one sister, Mrs. Maria GROSS.
He was connected with the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company for more than
thirty years and was a member of the Faber Mutual Aid Society.  Funeral

Julia Elizabeth PORTZ, who died yesterday at her home, 415 Fairview
avenue, was born in Brooklyn nine years ago, a daughter of August and
Sophie PORTZ.  She attended P.S. 71 and is survived, in addition to her
parents, by one brother and one sister.  The funeral will be held on Friday
at 2 P.M. with interment at Lutheran Cemetery under direction of

Adam FLECKENSTEIN died on Monday at St. Catharine's Hospital after
a brief illness.  He was born in Germany Sept. 10, 1864, and had lived in
Brooklyn for thirty-five years.  He was a member of Annunciation Council,
No. 71, C.B.L., and of the American Sugar Refining Association.  He is 
survived by his widow, Magdalena; three daughters, Anna, Catherine and
Mary and three sons, Peter, Adam, Jr., and Joseph.  The funeral will be
held from his late residence, 316 Stagg street, on Friday, at 9 A.M.;
thence to St. Nicholas' Church, where mass will be celebrated.  Interment
at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, under direction of John G. LUTZ & Son

Mary C. POWERS died yesterday at her home, 263 Fifty-second street.
She was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Alumni and the Sacred
Heart Society.  She is survived by her husband, John; four daughters

requiem mass in St. Michael's R. C. Church.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

George CLAUS, who died on Monday in the Jewish Hospital, was born in
Manhattan fifty years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for many
years.  He is survived by his widow, Mary; three son, George J., Jr., Fred O.
and Chester L., and a daughter, Viola.  He had been employed in the Berlin,
the Broadway department store, for the past twenty years.  Funeral
services will be held this evening at the parlors of the United Burial
Company, 1202 Broadway, the Rev. Mr. MEYER, of the Bushwick Avenue
Reformed Church officiating.  Interment to-morrow at Evergreen Cemetery.

John J. HARE, Jr., the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. HARE, of
186 Eleventh street, died on Monday at his home after a short illness.  He
is survived, besides his parents, by two sisters.  Funeral services will be
held to-morrow at 2 P.M. at his late residence.  Interment at Holy Cross

May B. QUITTMEYER, wife of James H. QUITTMEYER, died on Monday at
her home, 651 Bedford avenue, Richmond Hill.  Funeral services will be held

Harry WILDER, who died suddenly on Monday, was born in New Orleans, 
twenty-three years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for two years,
living at 730 Fifty-ninth street.  He is survived by one sister in New 
Orleans.
He was in the employ of the Merritt-Chapman Wrecking Company.  The

Florence SEAMAN, who died on Monday at her home, 541 Logan street,

Frank TIERNEY, who died Monday at his home, 929 Rogers avenue, was
born in Ireland forty-two years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn
for a number of years.  He is survived by his widow, Florence, and one

interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of F. J. KELLY, of
1615 Nostrand.

Lieut. Clarence E. HOLBORN, instruction of aviation at Call Field, Wichita
Falls, Texas, who was instantly killed yesterday, was born In Bayonne, N.J.
twenty-four years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for sixteen years.
Upon the declaration of war he enlisted in the Aviation Corps and went to
Cornell University for instruction.  He received his commission a year ago 
at Mineola.  Before enlisting he was employed as advertising man by the
Hyatt Roller Bearing Company.  He was a member of the Aero Club of
America, and Campus Lodge, No. 719, F. and A.M.  He was a graduate
of Boys' High School and is survived by his mother, Mary, and a brother,
Walter.  Lieut. HOLBORN was engaged to marry Miss Beatrice PETERS,
of East Orange, N.J.  Interment will be made at Sayville.

George Jerome DOWNEY, born in the Fifth Ward, a son of the late Peter J.
and Margaret HYNES DOWNEY, a pioneer family of the old city of
Brooklyn, died yesterday after a brief illness at his home, 2162 Nostrand
avenue.  After graduating from school he took up the trade of blacksmith,
and served on the Brooklyn Bridge for thirty years, retiring four years ago
He had been a resident of the Flatbush section for several years and was
a member of St. Jerome's R.C. Church, Nostrand and Newkirk avenues,
where a mass of requiem will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 A.M.  He is
survived by his widow, Ellen C. LOWREY DOWNEY; one son, Lieut
Ernest V. DOWNEY, U.S.A., with the A.E.F. in France; two daughters,
Kathleen M. and Helen M.; three brothers, John, Peter and Frank, and one
sister, Mrs. Margaret FARRELL.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of William DUNIGAN & Son, of 201 Park avenue.

JAS. MULHANE, VETERAN NEWSPAPER MAN, DIES
Served Many Years with Local Papers - Was Authority on Old Brooklyn
James F. MULHANE, a veteran newspaper man and long a member of
the editorial staff of The Standard Union, died early to-day after an illness
of four days of pneumonia at his home, 181 Martense street.  
He was 55 years old.
Mr. MULHANE was born in the Eastern District and spent his entire
life in newspaper work, having been employed on the "Sun," "Herald,"
and "Morning Journal" of Manhattan and on the "Times" and the Standard
Union of Brooklyn.
He also served as secretary to Sheriff Michael J. FLAHERTY.  He was a
graduate of St. Francis Xavier's College, Manhattan, and was an honorary
member of the War Veterans' Association.
Mr. MULHANE is survived by a widow, Mary A. WYNN MULHANE, and by
one son, Charles A., now a student in Brooklyn College, also by his mother,
Mrs. Ellen MULHANE.
During his many years of service in an arduous profession, Mr. MULHANE
enjoyed to an unusual degree the affection of his employers and the affection
of his associates.  Conscientious and painstaking in his work, his name
was a synonym for fidelity and his reputation an assurance of accuracy.
Among his fellow works, the quiet amiability of his nature made him 
conspicuous as the man who never expressed irritation or ill-humor.  He
was a veritable encyclopedia of information on old Brooklyn, its officials of
past decades, and its complicated system of streets.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.  Interment probably will
be made in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Mr. MULHANE was for many years a
member of Holy Cross R.C. Church.

AUSTRIAN, DENIED WORK, ENDS LIFE BY HANGING
George Joseph SALINER, a cook, 40 years old, unable to obtain employ-
ment during the last three months because he was an Austrian by birth,
committee suicide early to-day in his room in the Plaza Hotel, 150 Fulton
street, by hanging.  He was identified by a registration card bearing his
name.  SALINER was found suspended from the bedpost by a strap.

FIREMAN THOMAS MURRAY, WAR VETERAN, IS DEAD
Thomas MURRAY, a member of Hook and Ladder Company No. 148, and
the tallest man in the New York Fire Department, died on Tuesday at his
home, 749 Fiftieth street.  He was born in the old Fourth Ward, Manhattan,
and served in the Spanish-American war with Company K, Ninth U.S. Infantry.
He saw service in China and the Philippines, ranking as a sergeant at the
time of his discharge in 1902.  He was one of the pallbearers in the funeral
of the late Mayor GAYNOR.
Mr. MURRAY was drum major in the Fire Department Band.  He is survived
by his widow, six children and a sister, Mrs. J. T. LAKE.  The funeral
will be held to-morrow at 11 A.M., with requiem mass in St. Agatha's R.C.
Church, Seventh avenue and Forty-ninth street.  Interment in Calvary

Hospital, Staten Island, following an attack of pneumonia which he contracted

Marion A. M. BRITTON, widow of William Leonard BRITTON, died on Monday
in the Graham Home for Old Ladies, where she had been since 1913.  She

grandchildren.  She had formerly been a resident of the Eastern District

Annie DUHIG RYAN died yesterday at her home, 497 Dean street.  She was
born in Brooklyn on April 2, 1860, and was a member of St. Joseph's R.C.

Jacob OCKERS, known as the "Oyster King," died yesterday at his home
on the South County road, Oakdale.  Capt. OCKERS was conceded to be
the largest individual oyster grower and shipper in the United States.  He
was the first man to export oysters to Europe.  Several years ago he 
headed the Blue Point Company, located in West Sayville, and capitalized
at more than $1,000,000.  He was also connected with the Jacob OCKERS
Oyster Company, which has extensive buildings in Buzards Bay and Cape
Cod Bay, Massachusetts.  He also was a large planter in Delaware Bay.
He was a director of the Oystermen's National Bank of Sayville, a director
of the Live Fish Company, of Islip, a trustee of the Union Savings Bank of
Patchogue and a high degree Mason.

Peter A. CALLAHAN died yesterday at his home, 95 Pacific street.  He is 
survived by his widow, Josephine L. LEYDEN CALLAHAN, and five children,
Josephine, John, Mary, Peter, and Vincent.  He was a member of St.
Peter's R.C. Church, where requiem mass will be celebrated on Monday
at 9:30 A.M.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of J. J.

Anastasia KLAECK, who died on Tuesday in Jamaica Hospital, was born

Katherine CROSS died yesterday of pneumonia at her home, 248 Melrose

Frederick V. MORGAN, who died yesterday after an illness at Suffern,
N.Y., was born in Brooklyn forty-one years ago, and had been a resident

William T. KELLETT, of Cumberland street, Jamaica, died on Tuesday in
St. Anthony's Hospital, Woodhaven.  He was born in Greenpoint, a son of
the late Thomas and Jennie KELLETT.  He was a foreman of wells employed
in the watershed division of the Department of Water Supply Gas and
Electricity.  He is survived by a daughter, Anna; a son, Roy, and a brother,
Frank.  Funeral services were held this afternoon with interment at Springfield.

Mary MULLIGAN, who died on Tuesday in St. Peter's Hospital, was born in
Manhattan fifty-two years ago, a daughter of William and Mary MULLIGAN,
and had been a resident of Brooklyn for ten years.  She is survived by a
brother, William, and a sister, Mrs. Peter F. QUINN.  The funeral was held
this afternoon with interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Louis L. HINGLE, for fifty-one years an employe of the B.R.T., died on
Wednesday at his home, 108 Woodbine street.  He was born in Brooklyn
eighty years ago and when he retired from active service with the B.R.T.,
seven years ago, he received a gold medal for faithful service and was ut
on the pension roll.  He attended P.S. 1, was a volunteer fireman and
served in the Civil War with the Fourteenth Regiment.  He is survived by
a son, Livingston W.; a daughter, Mrs. Morris PESINGER; eight
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be
held this evening at 8:30 o'clock at his late home. Interment at Pine Law
Cemetery to-morrow morning.

James WRIGHT, who died on Tuesday at his home, 8782 Bay Twenty-
fourth street, Bath Beach, was born in Manhattan fifty-three years ago
and had been a resident of Brooklyn all his life.  He is survived by his
widow, four daughters and one son.  Services were held last evening with
interment to-day at Mount Olivet Cemetery under direction of Peter
BLASIUS, of 121 Newman avenue.

John C. BURKE, head of the firm of John BURKE & Son, shippers and
trucking, died on Wednesday at his home, 584 Decatur street.  He was
born in West Farms seventy-three years ago and had been a resident of
Brooklyn for thirty years.  He is survived by his widow, Mary, one son,
Leo E.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph WHALEN, and four grandchildren.  The
funeral will be held to-morrow at 9 A.M., with requiem mass in the Church

Richard CLARK, born in the Seventh Ward, Manhattan, a son of Maria
DAVIS and the late Charles CLARK, died yesterday at his home, 279 
Classon avenue, after a lingering illness.  He was engaged in the trucking
business in the Wallabout section, and was a member of St. James'
Episcopal Church.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters,
Mr. B. T. DALY, of Cambridge, Mass., and Mss Jennie CLARK, of Brooklyn.
The  funeral will be held from his late residence to-morrow afternoon at 2

MARY KASSKOPF, who died last Tuesday at Cleveland, O., after a short
illness, was born in Brooklyn and had lived here for fifty-six years.  She is

Frederick FELDMAN, of 667 Halsey street, died yesterday in Kings County
Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born in Germany on Jan. 1, 1874, and
had been a resident of Brooklyn for twenty-five years.  He is survived by his
widow, Lena, and a daughter, Lillian.  The Rev. Mr. INTEMANN will
conduct funeral services on Sunday at 2 P.M. in the parlors of John W.

Nicholas SMITH, a member of the Camp Utilities Department at Camp
Upton, died there on Tuesday.  He was born in Brooklyn twenty-seven years

Capt. Dennis F. COLLINS, who was one of the famous fire-fighters of
Long Island City, died suddenly yesterday following a stroke of apoplexy,
at his home, 249 Nott avenue, Long Island City.  He was made a member
of the Long Island City Fire Department by the late Mayor Patrick J.
GLEASON, prior to consolidation, and with the advent of New York City,
as now constituted, he became a member of the New York City Fire
Department.  He was in command of companies in the Long Island City
district and assisted in fighting some of the big fires in that locality.
While on duty he received injuries which caused his retirement seven 
years ago, after more than twenty years of service.  Recently he organized
a fire department for the protection of the big Wright-Martin Aircraft
Corporation, when that company was engaged in manufacturing airplane
motors for the Government.  He was about 53 years old and was born in
Brooklyn.  He went with his parents to Long Island City in 1869.  He
learned the trade of brass moulder, which he followed until he was 
appointed a fireman.  He was a member of Queensboro Lodge of Elks and
Firemen's Mutual Benefit Society.  He is survived by his father, Dennis
COLLINS; two brothers, John T., of Flushing, and Philip T., and a sister,
Mary E. COLLINS.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 10 A.M. with
mass in St. Patrick's R.C. Church.

Frederick F. MATHAEL, a drug salesman, well known to Long Island
druggist, died suddenly on Wednesday at his home, 149 Kenilworth place.
He was born in Germany fifty-three years ago, and had been a resident of
Brooklyn the greater part of his life.  He was a member of Covenant Lodge,
F. and A. M., and is survived by his widow, Katherine, and a brother,
William, of Chicago.

Catherine N. HELLMAN, widow of George HELLMAN, died on Thursday
of apoplexy at the home of her son-in-law, Edward HAASE, 180 Arlington
avenue.  She was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, seventy-eight
years ago, and had been a resident of Brooklyn for sixty-two years.  She
is survived by two sons, John and Frederick; three daughters, Mrs. Edward

Alfred S. LANE, pressroom foreman of the New York "Tribune" and a
member of the New Brooklyn Lodge of Elks, died on Wednesday at his
home, 810 Washington avenue.  He was born in Ireland and is survived by
his widow and six children, one of whom is in the U.S. Service.  The funeral
will be held this morning with requiem mass in St. Teresa's R. C. Church.

John J. RATHJEN died yesterday at his home, 52 Fourth avenue.  He was
born in Germany fifty-one years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn
for thirty-seven years.  He was a member of the Weirbarger Verin and is
survived by his widow, Sophie, two daughters, Anna and Helen; two sons,
John and William, and a brother, William.  Funeral services will be held 
to-morrow at 5 P.M. at his late home with interment on Monday at 10 A.M.
at Lutheran Cemetery.

Mary GERBER HARRIS, who died on Wednesday at her home, 297 Himrod
street, was born in Manhattan forty-one years ago and had been a resident
of Brooklyn for nineteen years.  She is survived by her husband, Joseph, and
one son and one daughter.  Funeral services were held this afternoon at her
late home, the Rev. Mr. BERSCH, of Maspeth, officiating.  Interment at
Lutheran Cemetery, under direction of B. J. THURING, of 1175 Bushwick avenue.

Joseph COWLEY, son of the late Bernard and Margaret COWLEY, died on
Thursday.  He was born in Troy, N. Y. about forty-four years ago, and had
been a resident of Brooklyn for more than thirty years.  He is survived by one
sister, Mrs. Jennie SCHWALBACK. He was a regular attendant at the 
Immaculate Conception R. C. Church.  Funeral to-morrow at 2 P.M. from
his sister's residence, 626 Grand street.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Margaret DOWD, who died last Tuesday at Cleveland, Ohio, had only
lived there a couple of years, having previously lived with her family in 
South
Brooklyn.  She was born in Ireland and came to the United States when a
child.  The funeral will be held from the residence of her mother, Mrs. Hugh
SULLIVAN, 341 Third street, to-morrow at 1:30 P.M.  She leaves her
husband, John A. DOWD; five children, her mother, one brother, John; and
three sisters, Anna, Minnie and Agnes.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery
under direction of Edward J. RENOUARD, of 417 Fifth avenue.

George J. BYRNE, who was born in Ireland and had lived in the old Ninth
Ward section for the past sixty years, died suddenly yesterday at his
home, 694 Bergen street.  Up to four years ago, when he retired, he had 
been a fireman in the Park Department, being the oldest one in point of
service, having spent fifty-six years in that capacity, or since the founding
of Prospect Park.  He was a member of the Washington Club and the Holy
Name Society attached to St. Joseph's Church, Pacific street near
Vanderbilt avenue, where requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Mr. BYRNE is survived by his widow,
Ellen KEATING BYRNE; nine children, Thomas, Mrs. Joseph CARR,
Joseph, Michael, Edward, John, Mae, Anna and Claire; twenty-eight
grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Lina SCHMITT died yesterday at her home, 223 Irving avenue, after a 
lingering illness.  She was born in Germany fifty years ago.  She is survived
by her husband, Martin; two sons, Fred and Charles SCHMITT; two daughters,
Mrs. Lina MORTON and Marie REICHENBACH, and twelve grandchildren.
The Rev. Mr. Philipbar will conduct funeral services Monday afternoon at
2 o'clock.  Interment in the family plot at Lutheran Cemetery under direction
of Charles MORTON, of 577 Onderdonk avenue.

Thomas J. FURLONG, employed as a stevedore in the Brooklyn Navy Yard,
died yesterday at his home, 43 Vanderbilt avenue.  He was born in Brooklyn
on April 1, 1889, and was a member of Sacred Heart R. C. Church.  He is
survived by his mother, two sisters, Mrs. Jeremiah WALSH and Mrs. Frank
NICOLLETTI, and an uncle, Thomas CONWAY.  The funeral will be held on
Monday at 9:30 A.M. with requiem mass in Sacred Heart Church celebrated
by the Rev. Father LEONARD, assisted by Fathers DWYER and SULLIVAN.

Annie FARLEY FOGARTY, born in Brooklyn forty-eight years ago, died on
Thursday at her home, 766 Halsey street.  She is survived by her husband,
William J., a son, John,; five daughters, Mrs. F. HARRIS, Anna, Agnes
Estelle and Margaret; two sisters, Mrs. G. REILLY and Mrs. W. CONNELLY,
and one brother, John FARLEY.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 A.M.,
with requiem mass in the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel.  Interment
at Calvary Cemetery.

Peter CUNNINGHAM, who died suddenly on Thursday, was born in Ireland
fifty-nine years ago, and had been a resident of the Greenpoint section for
forty years.  He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary CONDENK(?).
He had been a member of St. Antony's R.C. Church for many years.  The
funeral will be held to-morrow at 2 P.M. from the home of his stepdaughter,

Hilda L. McLAUGHLIN, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. August DREYER, of 125
Amity street, died at her home in Evanston, Ill., on Wednesday.  She was 
born in Brooklyn twenty-eight years ago and was a graduate of Packer
Institute.  She was married to H.R. McLAUGHLIN, vice-president of the
Washburn-Crosby Flour Company, and, in addition to her husband, is
survived by two children, her parents, and a sister, Mrs. Ira C. JONES, of
Cranford, N.J.

Edward KLEIN, a pressman, employed by the New York "Sun", died
yesterday at his home 2339 Linden street. He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-one years ago, and is survived by his grandmother, Hulda (?),
five uncles and four aunts.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 2 P.M.,
with interment at Evergreen Cemetery under direction of George WERST,
of 572 Hart street.

Harry F. FRAUENBERGER, a salesman, died on Thursday at his home, 865
Onderdonk avenue.  He was born in Brooklyn and is survived by his widow,
Elizabeth CLARKE; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph BURROWS and Mrs. Charles
BRIGGE; and two brothers, Edward and Alfred.  The funeral will be held on 
Monday, at 9:30 A.M., with requiem mass in St. Mathias' R. C. Church,
Catalpa avenue, with interment at St. John's Cemetery under direction of

Eugene ADAMS, a truckman, who died yesterday at his home, 162 
Ainslie street, was born in Manhattan thirty-five years ago, and had been a
resident of Brooklyn for twenty-five years.  He is survived by his widow,
Emma, two sons, William and Steven; his mother, Josephine; two sisters,
Mrs. Frederick BERGER and Mrs. Emil KASPER; and a brother, Walter.

Elizabeth GILLOOLY died on Thursday at her home, 17 Schaeffer street.  She

James KENNEY, born in Brooklyn, a son of James and Catherine KENNEY,
died on Thursday at his home, 1290 Prospect avenue.  The funeral was held

Mary M. KATTENHORN died yesterday at her home, 182 Conover street.
She was the widow of A. H. KATTENHORN, and is survived by one son,

Mary A. LANE died on Thursday at her home, 2814 Tilden avenue.  She was
48 years old, and is survived by her husband, Julius, one son, Dennis J., and

Lawrence J. DELAHANTY, a detective of the New York Police Department,
died on Thursday at his home, 1500 East Seventeenth street.  He was
born in Brooklyn seventy-one years ago and is survived by three daughters,
Mrs. H. TIFFITS, Teresa and Irene.  The funeral will be held to-morrow at
2 P.M. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of Thomas F.

Cornelius LOONEY, husband of the late Anna BREW LOONEY, died on 
Thursday at his home, 1141 East Fourteenth street.  He was a member of
St. Brendan's R. C. Church and had been connected with the B.R.T. for a
number of years, but was retired.  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs.
Myron ROSELLE, and four sons, John, Cornelius, James and William.

Frank TORCHIA died yesterday at his home, 133 Utica avenue.  He had 
been in the shoe machinery business for twenty-five years and is survived

Sigrid ERICSON died on Thursday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John GUNDERSON, 2124 Gravesend avenue.  In addition to her parents,
she is survived by her husband, John ERICSON; five sister, Tillie, Lillian,
Anna, Ruth and Adine GUNDERSON, and a brother Oscar.  Funeral

Anna B. DAILEY, who died on Thursday of pneumonia at her home, 163
Ralph avenue, was born in the Seventh Ward, Manhattan twenty years ago,
a daughter of John and Mary MURPHY BRASSELL.  She is survived by
her husband, Sylvester DAILY, and her parents, and a brother, Robert.  She
was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, where requiem
mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 9:30 A.M.  Interment at Calvary
Cemetery, under direction of James H. Black, of 5822 Fifth avenue.

The Rev. Arthur J. WAUGH, for many years pastor of Bethany Reformed
Church, Clermont and Willoughby avenues, died on Thursday at Corinth,
N. Y., after a brief illness.  He left Bethany Church last June and went to
Corinth.  Interment will probably be at Monticello, N. Y.

Richard BRICKLEY, husband of Margaret BRICKLEY, died yesterday at
his home, 1231 St. Marks avenue, after a lingering illness.  He was born
in England and had been a resident of Brooklyn since a boy.  In addition to
his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret KIELY, and a sister,
Mrs. CASEY.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 A.M., with requiem
mass in St. Matthew's R. C. Church.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Elizabeth E. MEYERS died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
L QUHR, 1414 East Fifteenth street.  She was born in Manhattan sixty-
three years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for a number of years.
She is survived by three daughters, Lizzie, Clara and Mamie.  The funeral
will be held on Monday at 2 P.M., with interment at Lutheran Cemetery under

Anna R. HANS, wife of Joseph P. HANS, died yesterday at her home, 170
Sixty-eighth street.  She was twenty-six years old and a daughter of Matthew

Josephine BECKER, who died yesterday at her home, 109 Etna street, was
born in German sixty-eight years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for
