Charles F. JAEGER, a partner in the firm of Hermann Topps and Company, died 
yesterday in his fiftieth year at his home, 169 Jamaica avenue. He was born 
in Germany, and lived in Brooklyn for thirty-two years and is survived by a 
widow, Emma aand two sons, Charles H. and Arthur F. Funeral services will be 
held Saturday night at 8 o'clock, the Rev. Carl J. LUCAS officiating. 
Interment at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of William F. MOORE, of 
69 Pennsylvania avenue.

Henry DIEHL, who died suddenly at a meeting of the Clothing Cutters' Relief 
Circle, Tuesday night, was born in New York City sixty-one years ago. He was 
a resident of Brooklyn for more than thirty years and lived at 220 Weirfield 
street. In addition to being an active meber of the Clothing Cutters' Relief 
Circle, he was for many years a member of Gramercy Council, No. 1510, R.A., 
and the Kings County Republican Club. He is survived by a widow, Louisa, two 
daughters and one son. Funeral services will be held to-morrow at 8:45 P.M. 
Interment at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of 
Albert WUNDER, of 514 Hamburg avenue.

John COOK died yesterday at his home, 243 East Fifty-fifth street. He was 
born in Norway fifty-two years ago, and for twelve years was a member of the 
United States Navy. He was treasurer of Naval Lodge No. 829, 1. O.O.F., and a 
member of Naval Camp, No. 49, U.S.W.V. He is survived by a widow, Georgina; 
one daughter, Anna Margretta; one son, Arthur Henry, who is stationed at 
Hampton Roads, Va.; one brother Carl, and two sisters in Norway. Funeral 
services will be held to-morrow at 8 P.M. Burial Saturday at 2:30 P.M. in the 
National Cemetery under the direction of John MCMANUS, of 102 Park avenue.

Kate S. BUCKINGHAM, formerly of the Eastern District, died last Sunday at the 
home of her sister, Mrs. Frances H. PIERCE, of Plattsburg,?a. She was born 
here sixty-two years ago and had lived in Plattsburg for the past year. 
Interment was made yesterday at Flushing Cemetery.

Eben F. HILDRETH, a ship carpenter and a resident of Brooklyn for fifty 
years, died Tuesday in the Bushwick Hospital. He lived at 892 Greene avenue 
and was a member of Olive Leaf Lodge No. 233, 4.O.O.F., Beacon Light 
Encampment, No. 24, ?.O.O.F.,the Veteran Oddfellows' Association and the 
Manhattan Ship joiners Association. He is survived by one son Herbert and one 
daughter, Mrs. Araminta TIERNAN. The funeral services will be held at 8 P.M. 
to-morrow in the funeral chapel at 122 Meserole street. Interment on Saturday 
at Cypress Hills Cemetery.

Alice Veronica HARTY FULLER, a vaudeville performer, died on Tuesday at her 
summer home, Brewster, N.Y., after a brief illness. She was one of the best 
known toe and fancy dancers. She was born in the Yorkville section of 
Manhattan, 1896, the daughter of Minnie HARGROVE HARTY and the late Jeremiah 
HARTY. She was a graduate of Public School 6 and the Morris High School. She 
was engaged for several seasons by Gus EDWARDS, and later joined with FULLER 
and CAHILL, making the team now known on the stage as FULLER,CAHILL and 
HARTY. She was a member of the National Vaudeville Artists, and Our Lady of 
Lourdes R.C. Church in Aberdeen street, where mass of requiem will be 
celebrated to-morrow at 9:45 A.M. The funeral will be held from her late 
home, 16 Cooper street. She is survived by her husband, Albert E. FULLER, one 
son, Albert V.; one daughter, Florence Amy, her mother, Lucy HARGROVE. 
Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of William 
DUNIGAN and Son, of 201 Park avenue.

Agnes Marie CALLAHAN, daughter of William and Mary CALLAHAN, of 148 North 
Eighth street, died yesterday. She is survived by three brothers and one 
sister in addition to her parents. The funeral was held this afternoon, with 
interment at Calvary Cemetery in charge of J.J. GALLAGHER & Son, of 215 North 
Eighth street.

Redmond F. O'KEEFE, a B.R.T. inspector, 55 years old, died Tuesday night at 
his home, 178 Skillman street.. He had been in the employ of the B.R.T. for 
fifteen years. The funeral will be held from his late home on Saturday at 9 
A.M., thence to the Church of St. Cecilia's where requiem mass will be 
celebrated. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of John 
GLINNEN's Sons, of 64 Herbert street.

Dorothy MILLS, youngest child of William Joseph and Anna SWONNICK MILLS, died 
yesterday at her home, 156 Eleventh street, after a brief illness. She was 
born in Brooklyn, and in addition to her parents she is survived by one 
brother, Joseph, and one sister, Viola. The funeral will be held at 2 P.M. 
to-morrow. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of John M. DUFFY's 
Sons, of 432A Fourth avenue.

Amelia N. COHEN, wife of Isaac COHEN, died yesterday at the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. Harry TANKOOS. She was born in New York City in 1869, had 
resided in Brooklyn for fifteen years, and is survived by three sons, Louis, 
Leslie and Jacob and one daughter, Mrs. Harry TANKOOS. Jacob COHEN is a 
corporal in the coast artillery. Services were held this morning at her late 
home, 147 Driggs avenue. Interment at Acacia Cemetery, Bayside, Queens.

Catherine STRINGMAN, wife of Henry STRINGMAN, who died yesterday at her home, 
282 Hamburg street, was born in Brooklyn forty-two years ago. Besides her 
husband she is survived by four sons, Robert, Harry, Frederick and George, 
and two brothers, Peter and Joseph GELDING. The funeral services will be held 
in St. Barbara's Church Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment at Holy 
Trinity Cemetery under direction of Peter J. GELS, of 1826 Myrtle avenue.

PADDY HEARN, OF OLD 69th REGIMENT, KILLED
 P. HEARN, 22 years old, popularly known as "Paddy", reported as killed, 
formerly lived at 214 Sixth avenue. He and his twin brother, "Mac", were two 
of the most popular members of the old Sixty-ninth Regiment. They both 
volunteered at the first call and were in Company C of the 165th. Their 
resemblance was so perfect that it resulted in great fun in the company. The 
family is from Ballinrole, County Mayo, Ireland.

Lorena E. GEFLAIN, 55 years old, wife of Charles P. GEFLAIN, died Tuesday at 
her home, 55 Weldon street. Mrs. GEFLAIN hda lived in Brooklyn for thirty 
years. Funeral services will be held at 8 o'clock to-night. Interment at 
Cypress Hills Cemetery under the direction of G. BREWSTER, of 3298 Fulton street.

Anna LECHLER died Tuesday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles 
BAIR, 3853 102d avenue, formerly Shoe and Leather street, Woodhaven. She was 
thirty-two years old, was born in Germany and is survived by her husband, 
Adolph LECHLER; two daughters, Clara and Viola, and her parents. Funeral 
services will be held at 2 P.M. to-morrow in St. Luke's Evangelist Lutheran 
Church in Sutton street, the Rev. Henry BRATUN officiating. Interment at Mt. 
Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Peter J. STENGER, of 123 Meeker avenue.

Isabelle STEWART, of 1277 Bushwick avenue, died on Monday at Kings Park. She 
is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jennie M. DENTON and Mrs. Alice SMITH. The 
funeral services were held last night. The remains were buried at Monroe, N.Y.

Rosa CAMPOLO, who died Tuesday, was born in Italy 56 years ago. She is 
survived by one daughter, Rose, and two sons, Joseph and Peter. Funeral 
services will be held to-morrow at the establishment of P. MCCANNA Son's, 804 
Flatbush avenue. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

James MURRAY, who died on Monday at his home, 249 Fifty-seventh street, was 
born in Ireland thirty-eight years ago, had been a resident of Brooklyn for 
twenty years and was employed as a B.R.T. motorman for fifteen years. He was 
a member of the B.R.T. Mutual Aid Society and is survived by two daughters 
and one son. Requiem mass was celebrated yesterday in the Redemptionist 
Church, Fifty-ninth street and Fifth avenue. Interment at Calvary Cemetery 
under the direction of T.J. HIGGINS, of 214 Jay street.

Pauline GOLDSCHMID, wife of Emanuel GOLDSCHMID, who died yesterday at her 
home, 396 Third street, was born in Talfang, Germany, fifty-seven years ago, 
and lived in Brooklyn most of her life. She is survived by her husband, two 
daughters, Helen and Carrie, and one son, Edward. Funeral services were held 
this afternoon, the Rev. Mr. PAYMER, of Quincy Street Temple, officiating. 
Interment at Mount Zion Cemetery, under the direction of Jacob MOCH.

Mary Josephine BURKE, daughter of Mary OWENS and the late John BURKE, died at 
her home, 136 Luquer street, yesterday. She was born in Brooklyn twenty-two 
years ago, and was a member of the Church of the Visitation, also a graduate 
of the school. She is survived by her mother, two sisters, Mrs. Loretta 
ENRIGHT and Helen BURKE, one brother, John. Funeral services will be held 
Saturday, at 10:30 A.M., at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, where a 
requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under the

George BIRKEL, Sr., who died Tuesday at his home, 36 Highview avenue, 
Jamaica, was sixty years old. He is survived by a widow, Barbara. The funeral 
was held this afternoon with interment at Lutheran Cemetery under the 
direction of E. COLLISION of Jamaica.

Edward A. WEIGAND, who died yesterday of pnuemonia, was seventeen years old 
and lived at 293 Irving avenue. He is survived by his father, Joseph; his 
mother, Leah, one sister, Eleaanor, and one brother, Joseph. Funeral services 
will be held at his late home to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock, the Rev. Herman 
E. SCHNATZ of the first German Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment at 
Evergreen Cemetery Saturday morning under the direction of Bernard A. RUOFF, 
of 1434 Myrtle avenue.

William WIDMAIER, who was born in Germany and came to this country 
twenty-five years ago, died yesterday at his home, 560 Court street. He was a 
member of the Boss Baker's Association and of St. Paul's German Lutheran 
Church. He is survived by a widow, Frieda BRAUN, and two daughters, Hattie 
and Rosa. Funeral services will be held to-morrow evening at 7:30, the Rev. 
John HUPPENBAUER officiating. Interment Saturday at 2:30 P.M. in Greenwood Cemetery.

Matilda MORAN, who died yesterday at her home, 200 West Ninth street, was 
born in Brooklyn and was a life member of the Church of the Sea. She is 
survived by her late husband, Joseph, one son, Willam, one daughter, Mrs. 
John TRACEY, and a grandson, John TRACEY, Jr. Requiem mass will be Celebrated 
at the Church of the Sea Saturday at 9:30 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

RADIO EXPERT KILLED IN FALL OF AIRPLANE
 MINEOLA, July 11-Bruce CULMER, 27 years old, of Martindale, Ind., a radio 
expert at Hazelhurst aviation field, was killed yesterday when he fell 100 
feet while making tests in a battleplane piloted by Cadet FORSTER. FORSTER 
escaped with a few bruises.

WOMAN DIES IN HOSPITAL FROM FRACTURED SKULL
As the result of a fractured skull sustained in a fall at her home two days 
ago, Johanna HITZ, 72 years old, of 16 Fifth avenue, Union Course, died in 
St. Mary's Hospital last night.

Amelia STALF, who died Wednesday at Bethel, Conn., was born in Germany 
fifty-eight years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for thirty-nine 
years, having lived at 1107 Putnam avenue. She is survived by her husband, 
Leonard; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine WALTERS and Mrs. Carrie WALTERS, and 
one son, Anton. Funeral services will be held at her late home Sunday at 2

Stephen F. PECKHAM, writer ofmany scientific papers and an expert 
onpetroleum, died yesterday at his home, 1261 Bergen street. He was born in 
Providence,R.I., eighty years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn since 
1898. He was a graduate of Brown University. He had been employed as a 
chemist by the City of New York for twelve years and was also employed by the 
Federal Government. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of Grant 
Post, G.A.R.; the Society of Chemical Engineers, the American Philosophical 
Society and other organizations. He is survived by a widow, Dr. Harriet VAN 
BUREN PECKHAM;two daughters and one son. The funeral services will be held at 
8 P.M. to-morrow at his late home. Interment Sunday at Providence,R.I.

Rolland W. HILL, who died on Wednesday at his home, 735 Wythe avenue, was 
born in New York City seventy-two years ago and was a member of the Exempt 
and Volunteer Firemen's Association and was formerly with Engine Company No. 
2. He was the son of the late Samuel B. and Frances PATE HILL and is survived 
by a widow, Jennie, three sons, and one brother and two sisters. The funeral

Mary STARK, who died yesterday at Kings Park, was born in Germany eighty 
years ago, and had been a resident of Brooklyn for a number of years, having 
formerly lived at 231 Hopkins street. services will be held at the funeral

interment at Evergreen avenue.

Pauline FISCHER, who died yesterday at her home, 569 Forty-seventh street, 
was born in Jersey City forty-seven years ago; had been a resident of 
Brooklyn for twenty-seven years, and was a member of the Jewish Federation 
and several other charitable organizations. She is survived by her late 
husband, Albert; one son, Herman ?? in France; one sister, Mrs. Margaret 
Ko??er and one brother, Morris WLIDOP (?). The funeral services will be held

Barbara STREBEL, widow of Charles STREBEL, died Wednesday at her home, 125 
Halleck avenue, Ridgewood. She was a member of Morning Star Lodge, Ideal 
Chapter, No. 373, O.E.S. and the Ladies' Aid Society of the Ridgewood 
Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Katherine 
HELLMUTH and Mrs. Anna BRANDT and three sons, Henry F., Philip C., and

Adele Marie RUPPERT, 12 years old, died in St. Cstherine's Hospitaal on 
Wednesday, following severe burns sustained in an accident. She attended the 
Elmont Public School and lived with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. 
RUPPERT. She is survived also by two brothers, Louis and Harry, and one aunt, 
Mrs. Alberta BRIGGS, of 1270 Park place, from whose home funeral services 
will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

William F. SMITH, born in Brooklyn forty-two years ago and connected with the 
publishing firm of MAYNARD & MERRILL, of Manhattan, died on Wednesday at 
Stamford, Conn. He had been a member of the Clinton Club and the Westminster 
Presbyterian Church, and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Allan C. SMITH, and 
four brothers, Allan P., Gorgon K., Harold and Frederick. The funeral 
services will be held to-night at 8 o'clock at his late home, 94 Second 
place. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

William STREIN, who died Wednesday at his home, 346 Stanhope street, was born 
in Germany sixty-seven years ago and lived here for forty-five years and was 
a shoemaker and a member of Morgan Council, No. 332, C.B.L., and St. Aloysius 
Church. He is survived by four sons, John, William, Frank, and Albert; one 
daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth STRONG; two brothers, John and Joseph STREIN, and 
one sister. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. with interment atSt. 
John's Cemetery under the direction of Frank DARMSTADT & Son, of 80 Harrison place.

William J. GARDINER, who died suddenly Wednesday of heart disease at his 
workbench in the toolmaking plant at 1723 Eighth avenue, was born in 
Providence twenty-nine years ago. He is survived by a widow, sisters and a 
brother. The funeral will take place from his late home, 68 South Elliot 
place, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Requiem mass will be sung at Our Lady 
of Mercy Church, Schermerhorn street. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery

Margaret MORAN, widow of John MORAN, died last Sunday in St. Joseph's Home, 
209 West Fifteenth street, Manhattan. She was born in Ireland seventy-three 
years ago and had lived in the Eastern District for twenty-five years in 
North Seventh street. The funeral was held this morning, and after requiem 
mass in the Church of St. Vincent De Paul by the Rev. Father FLYNN. Interment 
was made at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Thomas H. IRELAND, of 177 
North Sixth street.

Fay KELLOGG, one of the best known women architects, died Wednesday at her

Frederick C. ALBRECHT died Wednesday at his home, 65 Grattan street. He was 
born in New York forty-five years ago and had lived in Brooklyn for thirty

daughters, Augusta, Eva and Anna; one brother, Anthony and one sister, Sophia

Jacob SCHARFENBERGER, a veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday after a 
lingering illness at his home, 281 Himrod street. He was born in Bavaria in 
1838 and came to Brooklyn in 1859. He served two enlistments with the 
Sixty-eighth Infantry during the Civil War. Mr. SCHARFENBERGER was a 
stonecutter and a member of the Washington Kranken U. SterbeKasse, of Hudson 
County, N.J., and St. Barbara's R.C. Church, Bleecker street and Central 
avenue. He is survived by one cousin, Barbara JUNGMANN. The funeral will be 
held to-morrow at 9:30 A.M. with requiem mass in St. Barbara's Church. The

John Henry BOCK, past commander of Teft Odell Post, No. 443, G.A.R., died 
wednesday at his home, 2345 Foster avenue. He was born in this city 
seventy-five years ago. He was a sergeant in the Fifty-sixth Regiment, New 
York Volunteers, during the Civil War. He was employed by Butler Bros. for a 
long period and went with Abraham & Straus fourteen years ago. He was active 
in the work of the Tompkins Avenue Congregational Church, and is survived by

Margaret LEMAN, wife of George LEMAN, died Thursday at her home, 48 Sterling 
place. She was the granddaughter of a former archdeacon of the Episcopal 
Diocese of Londonderry, Ireland and a grandniece of the Rev. William MORRIS,

of the Peace of the old town of Flatlands, and also for a period of nine 
years an associate justice of the Kings County Court during the time of Judge 
MOORE, died Friday night after a long illness. The funeral will be held 
Tuesday afternoon, with burial in the Carnarsie Cemetery, following a service

Canarsie. In his early life Judge Mathew was a bayman and he also carried on 
a real estate business near his home. He was for years a leader in Republican

David H. SCOTT, who died Friday at his home, 797 Putnam avenue, after a long 
illness, was born in New York City seventy-four years ago and had been a 
resident of Brooklyn for fifty years. He had formerly been connected with the 
real estate firm of Stokes and Knowles, of Brooklyn, and was a member of 
Manual Lodge, No. 636, F.and A.M.; Nathan Hale Lodge, 1.O.O.F., and the 
Central Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two sons, David and George; 
one brother, James; three grandchildren and one niece. Funeral services will 
be held to-night at 8 o'clock at his home, the Rev. Dr. SMITH, associate 
pastor of Janes M. E. Church, officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood 
Cemetery to-morrow at 10 A.M.

Elizabeth MURRAY, who died Friday in the Greenpoint Hospital, was born in 
Brooklyn fifty years ago and attended St. Antony's R.C. Church. She is 
survived by two sons, Joseph and John, the latter in the Navy. the funeral 
will be held from the funeral paarlors of J.J. GALLAGHER, 215 North Eighth 
street, to-morrow at 2 P.M. with interment at Calvary Cemetery.

William R. SANFORD, who died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul C. 
PINCHES, 1037 East Seventh street, was born in Catskill,N.Y., fifty-eight 
years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn most of his life. He was a 
cabinet maker and a member of the Congregational Church of Flatbush and is 
survived by his widow, Ella, and his daughter. Funeral services will be held 
this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of his daughter, with interment 
to-morrow at Catskill.

Winifred STRATTON, born in Ireland fifty-two years ago and a resident of this 
country for forty years, died on Friday at her home, 242 Gold street. She is 
survived by her husband, George; one son, James F., and one grandchild. The 
funeral will be held to-morrow at 9:30 A.M., thence with requiem mass at St. 
James' ProCathedral on Jay street. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery 
under the direction of Louis W. FARRELL, of 302 Jay street.

Mary M. DITTRICH, who died Thursday at her home, 1733 Norman street, 
Ridgewood, is survived by  her husband, George; one daughter, Marie; four 
brothers, Bernard, Frank, Ferdinand and John, and two sisters, Mrs. Caroline 
STEIGER and Mrs. William HORN. The funeral will be held to-morrow at 10 A.M., 
with requiem mass at the R.C. Church of St. Mathias. Interment will be under

William MCKENZIE, long a resident of South Brooklyn, died on Friday at his 
home, 181 Fifteenth street. He was for many years employed as a moulder in 
the Navy Yard. He is survived by four sons, Murdoch, of Newark, N.J.; William 
M., of Norwich, Conn.; George C., and Alfred B., of this city; four 
daughters, Elizabeth C., Mrs. Mary R. ROSSI, Mrs. Agnes G. ROBINSON and Mrs. 
Mrs. Charlotte E. LUNDY, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary BAXTER aand Mrs. Margaret 
RAMSEY. He was affiliated with the International Iron Moulders' Union, 
Ancient Order of Shepherds and Clan MacDonald Order of Scotish Clans. Funeral 
services will be held at his late home at 8 o'clock to-night. Interment at 
Evergreen Cemetery at 2 P.M. to-morrow.

Mayer NEUBERGER, founder of the firm of M. NEUBERGER & Co., died Thursday at 
his summer home at Arverne. He retired from active business twenty years ago, 
since which time he had been active in many charitable organizations. He was 
seventy-nine years old and a member of the Central Synagogue, Cremieux 
Benevolent Society, Zion Lodge, I.O.B.B., and Empire State Lodge, No. 460, 
I.O.O.F. He is survived by one son, Ralph M., and three daughters, Helen 
HARTOGENSIS, Amelia LOEB and Tillie GOLDSTEIN. The funeral was held on Friday 
with interment at Linden Hill Cemetery.

Rose HIGGINS who died on Friday at her home, 184 Prospect Park West, was born 
in Brooklyn and is survived by five brothers, John T., J. James, Hugh and 
Edward, and two sisters, Mrs. MCKINNEY and Sister Mary John, O.S.J. The 
funeral will be held Monday at 2 P.M. from her late home with interment at 
Holy Cross Cemetery.

Margaretha HENN, who died yesterday at her home, 36 Dennington avenue, 
Woodhaven, was born in Kingston sixty-one years ago and had been a resident 
of Brooklyn for forty-five years. She attended St. Thomas' R.C. Church, 
Benedict avenue Woodhaven, and was a member of the St. Catharine's Hospital 
Help Society and msny other organizations. She is survived by her husband, 
Leopold; two sons, Frank and George, the latter with the 104th Field 
Artillery, U.S.A.; one daughter, Agnes; a daughter-in-law, Anna L. HENN, and 
two grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 A.M., with 
requiem mass at St. Thomas' R.C.

Henry VON OESEN, who had been in the grocery business at Green and Patchen 
avenues for twenty-nine years, died on Friday at his home, 983 Greene avenue. 
He was born in Germeny fifty-nine years ago and had been a resident of 
Brooklyn for thirty-four years. He was a member of the Stoteler Club aand the 
Amthagener Club. He is survived by a widow, Katharine; one son, Richard; two 
daughters, Meta and Catherine, and one brother, Charles. The funeral services 
will be held at 8 P.M. to-morrow at his late home. Interment Tuesday at

James J. NOLAN, 48 years old, and for many years a resident of Long Island 
City, died Friday night at his home, 565 Jackson avenue. He was born in 
County Cavan, Ireland. His wife, Kathryn, and two sons, James and Vincent 
survive him. He was a member of  the of the Holy Name Society of St. 
Patrick's Church, and of Division No. 3, Ancient Order of Hibernians. Funeral 
services will be held to-morrow morning, with a mass at St. Patrick's Church, 
at 9:30. Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery.

Charles P. FOLLANSBEE, born in Boston,Mass., sixty-five years ago aaand a 
resident of Brooklyn for thirty-five years , died Thursday at the home of his 
son, 1212 Kings Highway. He lived at 1622 Caton avenue and had been engaged 
in the wholesale woolen business in Manhattan. He is survived by two sons, 
Charles P. and John T.; one daughter, Bessie , an editor of Brooklyn "Life", 
and two grandchildren. The funeral was held yesterday from the home of his 
son, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mary Lloyd MULLIKEN, who died on Thursday of natural causes at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Samuel HENRY, 712 Eighth avenue, was born in London, 
England, ninety-four years ago, and had formerly lived in the West. She is 
survived by her daughter and one sister, Mrs. Katherine L. ROBINSON, of 
Richmond, Ind. The funeral services were held last evening at 8 o'clock at 
the home of her daughter, the Rev. Dr. F.W. O'Brein officiating. The 
interment was to-day at Greenwood Cemetery.

Karolina B. MAURER, wife of Jaacob MAURER, retired brew master, formerly of 
the Munch Brewery, died on Friday in the Trinity Hospital of a fractured 
skull, which she sustained in a fall in a store at 1000 Myrtle avenue. She 
was born in Baden, Germany, sixty-five years ago and had been a resident of 
Brooklyn for twenty-five years. She is survived, besides her husband, by two 
daughters, Mrs. Henry HINDERER and Margaret MAURER. Funeral services will be 
held at 8 o'clock to-night at her late home, 832 Vernon avenue with interment 
to-morrow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Maria DE GOGORZA, who died at her home, 298 Hicks street, was born in 
Santiago, Cuba, and had been a resident of Brooklyn for forty-five years. She 
is survived by one sister, Carmen DE GOGORZA. The funeral will be held 
to-morrow at 10 A.M. from her late home; thence to the Church of St. Charles 
of Borromeo, where a requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment will be at 
Greenwood Cemetery.

Private Charles J. LESCH, reported to-day as killed in action in France, was 
the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius LESCH, of 174 Freeman street. He was 
called to the National Army on Oct. 10 and sent to Camp Upton. He sailed for 
France in March. LESCH was born in Greenpoint twenty-two years ago and had 
lived in this section all his life. He was well known and popular in 
religious and social circles.

COTTONE KILLED WITH REGULARS
 Private Charles B. COTTONE, 24 years old, whose name appears among those 
killed in action, lived with six sisters and four brothers at 2534 Pacific 
street. He was one of the first men of that neighborhood to be drafted into 
the National Army. He received his traaining at Camp Upton and was later 
transferred to Company D, Twenty-third Regular Infantry, His brother, 
Antonio, is at Camp Devens.
 H. GOULD, also reported killed, is not known at 1606 Prospect place, the 
address given on the list.

SALLER DEAD FROM WOUNDS
  News of the death of Corporal William SALLER was received to-day by his 
sister, Mrs. Joseph REIDE, of Sutter avenue, Middle Village, in a depatch 
from the War Department, which stated that SALLER died of wounds received in 
action, June 22. His name is in to-daay's casualty list.
  Corporal SALLER had been in the army about eight months, as a member of 
Company M, Seventh Infantry, and sailed for France early this year. He was 
twenty-eight years old, and before joining the colors had followed the trade 
of his deceased father, who was well known throughout Queens as a maarble 
cutter and polisher.

DUNN KILLED IN ACCIDENT
 Private C. Harry DUNN, of the 328th Infantry, was killed July 3 by an 
accidental riflr shot, according to a War Department telegram to his aunt, 
Miss Mamie ROSS, of 246 Ninth street. DUNN was 23 years old. When war was 
declared he tried to enlist in the Fourteenth Regiment, but was rejected. 
When drafted last September he was accepted and sent to Upton. he went 
overseas in May.

William H. SWARSBRICK, son of Emily and the late William H. SWARSBRICK, died 
yesterday at his home, 293 Stagg street. He was born in Brooklyn, served 
three years in the regular army, being discharged as a corporal in the Sixth 
Field Artillery in Texas in 1915. When the United States entered the war he 
re-enlisted. While his unit was stationed at Camp Mills five months ago he 
was stricken with pneumonia. He gradually sank until the end came yesterday. 
In addition to his mother he is survived by four brothers, Thomas, who is in 
military service; Robert, Walter and John, and two sisters, Emily and Ethel.

 The funeral of William J. BEHAN, a naval aviator, who was killed last Friday

Letitia MCCABE, born in the Seventeenth Ward in 1891, the daughter of James 
J. MCCABE, who is connected with the Brooklyn Union Gas Company and the late 
Letitia MCKENNA MCCABE, died yesterday night at her home, 273 Tillary street, 
after several weeks' illness. She had been a resident of the Fifth and 
Twentieth Wards for twenty years, was a graduate of the Sacred Heart 
Institute in Clermont avenue and a member of St. Edward's R.C. Church in St. 
Edwards street. She was employed as a bookkeeper by the Moore Paint 
Manufacturing Company, and in addition to her  father is survived by one 
brother, John J. MCCABE, a member of Company E., 18th Engineers ???, now in

Louis SPITZ, president of Gray & Co., manufacturers of mantels and mirrors at 
378 Pearl street, died yesterday at his home, 265 Kosciusko street. He was 
born in Brooklyn sixty-two years ago and had been a resident of the Sixth 
Assembly District for twenty-five years. In 1909 he was defeated as 
Democratic candidate for the Assembly in the Sixth District. Mr. SPITZ took a 
leading part in the fight for the consolidation of Brooklyn and New York in 
1898 and at that time was owner of one of the largest storage warehouses in 
Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Furniture and Storage Co., in Fulton Street and at 
that time was president of the Down-town Association of Fulton Street 
Merchants. He was vice president of the Sixth Assembly District Democratic 
Club for ten years, a member of the Society of Old Brooklynites, the Sons of 
Veterans and a past master of Cassia Lodge, No. 445 F.and A.M. He is survived 
by a widow, Carrie, one daughter, Roselia, and one son, Edward F., a lawyer. 
The Rev. Samuel R. COHEN will officiate at the funeral services at 2 P.M. 
Wednesday. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Rose E. MOONEY died Saturday in the Holy Family Hospital as the result of 
being hit by an automobile. She was born in Brooklyn, lived at 357 Degraw 
street and attended St. Agnes' parochial school and church. She is survived

Frederick G. OTTMANN, forty-five years old, died Staurday at his home, 133

Charles WEIGOLD, a pressman employed by the New York "Herald" for thirteen 
years, died Saturday at his home, 2415 Van Cortland avenue, the Bronx. He was 
born in New York City forty-one years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn 
most of his life. He was a member of New York Newspaper Web Pressman's Union, 
No. 25, and is survived by a widow, Louise; four daughters, Julia, Marie, 
Louise and lillian, and two sons, Charles and William. The Rev. George ISRAEL

MRS. JULIA OSBORNE DIES FROM HEMORRHAGE
 Mrs. Julia S. OSBORNE, wife of Charles W. OSBORNE, a prominent Reformed 
churchman in Brooklyn for fifty years, died yesterday in St. Lukes Hospital, 
Manhattan, of a hemorrhage of the pancreas. Mr. and Mrs. OSBORNE had been 
married twenty years and formerly lived in Carroll street near Sixth avenue. 
They were active members under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. James M. FARRAL 
of the Old First Reformed Church. Mrs. OSBORNE having been a member twenty 
years. Mr. OSBORNE was formerly confidential secretary to the late Russell 
SAGE for many years. Mrs. OSBORNE will be buried at Easthampton, L.I.

Henry ROTH. Hardening of the arteries and not drowning, as was reported in 
the morning papers, caused the death of Henry ROTH yesterday afternoon on the 
beach in front of his summer  home at Neponsit, Queens. He was about to go in 
bathing when fatally stricken. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. 
to-morrow in Temple Beth Elohim in Keap street, of which congregation Mr. 
Roth was president. Mr. ROTH's town home is at 391 Stuyvesant avenue. He is 
survived by a widow, Rose, and two sons, Benjamin and Jerome. Mr. ROTH was 58 
years old, treasurer of the Welz and Zerwick Brewing Company, a trustee of 
the Title Guarantee & Trust Company, a director of the Unity Club, and a 
member of Cassia Lodge, F. and A.M.; the Federation of Jewish Societies and a 
number of other social and fraternal organizations.

Winifred REILLY, daughter of Patrick and Anna BYRNE REILLY, of 502 St. Johns 
place, died yesterday in the Swedish Hospital as the result of a fall off a 
wagon on Sunday. She was born in Brooklyn four years ago, and in addition to 
her parents she is survived by two brothers, John and Patrick Francis, and 
one sister Catherine. The funeral will be held to-morrow at 2 P.M., with 
burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. John M. DUFFY's Sons, of 432A Fourth avenue, 
have charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mary Frances DOYLE, daughter of Anna E. BURNES and the late Richard DOYLE, 
died yesterday at her home, 404 Sackett street. She was a teacher in Public 
School 161, Manhattan, and a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, Girl's High 
School, aand the Training School for Teachers. She was a member of the Church 
of St. Agnes, where requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:45P.M., to-morrow. 
In addition to her mother she is survived by one brother, Richard J. DOYLE, 
and one sister Agnes Irene DOYLE, also a public school teacher. Interment

Mary ARMSTRONG died Sunday at the home of her son,  Robert ARMSTRONG, 116 
Bedford avenue. She was  born in Ireland, attended the Church of St. Vincent

Walter M. HYNES, who died Sunday at his home, 1266 Fifty-sixth street, was

George T. ROWLEE, born in Brooklyn seventy-eight years ago, and for fifty 
years a resident of Paterson, N.J., died there Sunday. He served in the navy 
during the Civil War. He retired from business a few years ago. A widow and

Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church. He is survived by two sisters, Anna

Richard L. HUGHES a travelling salesman in the papermaking trade, died last 
Saturday in Flushing Hospital. He was forty-three years old lived at 2418 
Putnam avenue, and was a member of La Salle Council, 451, K. of C., and the

daughters, Margaret and Catherine HUGHES; his mother, Mrs. Mary HUGHES; two

RACHEL SHUTER, widow of Michael SHUTER, a retired Manhattan manufacturer, and 
mother of the late Sophie MESERITZ, died yesterday at her summer home, 91 
Beach 125th street, Rockaway Park. Mrs SHUTER was born in London, England, 
sixty-five years ago. She had been a resident of New York State forty-six 
years and of Brooklyn twenty-one years. Her winter home was at 851 Park 
place. She is survived by two sons, Elias, of Flushing, and Nathaniel, of 
Brooklyn. Dr.FELDMAN of the Free Synogogue of Flushing will officiate at the 
funeral services to-day at 8:30 P.M. at Mrs. SHUTER's late home. Interment 
will be made to-morrow at noon at Mount Hope Cemetery, Cypress Hills.

MARIE M. O'CONNOR, who died yesterday at her home, 1428 East Ninety-fifth 
street of heart disease, was born in Quebec, Canada, fifty-six years ago. She 
has been a  resident of Brooklyn ten years. Mrs. O'CONNOR is survived by her 
husband, Michael, a boat owner of Canarsie; two sons, Joseph and John, the 
latter now in France with the United States Army, and two sisters, Miss 
Catherine and Teresa MYLETT. The funeral will be held next Tuesday at 10 A.M. 
with a requiem mass at the Church of the Holy Family. Interment will follow 
at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Daniel J. FULLERTON, of 1493 
Rockaway avenue.

MARY A.E. SLOAN, an old member of Janes M.E. Church, died last Friday at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert L. BRADY, 414 Halsey street. She was born 
in Fairfield, Conn., and had been a resident of Brooklyn more than forty 
years. Mrs. SLOAN was the widow of William A. SLOAN. She is survived by two 
sons, Frederick B. and William H.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert L. BRADY, 
Margaret P. and Grace; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The 
funeral services will be held tonight at the home of her daughter.

Charles E. BRIDGEMAN, who had been in the employ of the Western Union 
Telegraph Company since he was a messenger boy nine years old, died last 
Thursday of a complication of ailments at his home, 833 Madison street. He 
was born in Binghamton, N.Y., sixty-one years ago and is survived by his 
widow, Mary MCLEAN, two sons, Albert and Edward; one daughter, Mrs. John 
PRUSSEN; two grandchildren and one sister. The funeral services were held 
last night at his late home, the Rev. Louis O. ROTENBACH, of the Bethany 
Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be made to-day at Evergreen Cemetery.

George LANDER, who died yesterday at the age of 61, was born in New York City 
May 27, 1857. He had been a resident of Brooklyn thirty years. Mr. LANDER is 
survived by a wife Mary LANDER ( nee NORDTS); one daughter, Mamie OLIGER (nee 
LANDER); one grandchild, George F. OLIGER, and a brother, John LANDER. He was 
a member of Martha Washington Council, No. 1, Jr. O.U.A.M.; the Edward T.

William E. DORMITZER, of the printing and lithographing firm of WINSER & 
DORMITZER, of Beekman street, Manhattan, died last Thursday at his summer 
home at Oak Beach. He was born in Tamaqua, Pa., sixty-one years ago and he 
had been a resident of Brooklyn since 1876. He had been in the printing and 
lithographing business thirty-five years. Mr. DORMITZER was a member of 
Bedford Lodge, F. and A.M.; Fort Greene Council, Royal Arcanum, and Columbia 
Council Loyal Benevolent Association. He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth, 
two daughters, Mrs. LEROY ROBERT and Mrs. Walter DUSENBERG; three sisters, 
Mrs. H.F. ROSQUIN, Miss B. DORMITZER and Mrs. L. DALE, and one brother, 
Arthur DALE. The funeral services were held last night at his late home, 627 
McDonough street. Interment will be made to-day at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mary FLEMING, widow of John W. FLEMING, died yesterday at her home, 270 
Halsey street, after an illness of nearly a year. She was born in County 
Clare, Ireland, seventy-seven years ago. Coming to this country in her early 
youth, she settled in Connecticut. In 1880 she made her home in Brooklyn. She 
is survived by one son, John BROPHEY. A requiem mass will be celebrated 
to-morrow at 9:30 A.M. at the Church of Our Lady of Victory, Throop avenue 
and McDonough street. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Barbara WISHINSKY, 28 years old, died last Friday at her home, 212 Butler 
street. She is survived by her husband, Charles, and one son. The funeral 
will be held to-day, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under the 
direction of William DALY, of 136 Smith street.

Georgia E. RICH, widow of Thomas RICH, died last Friday of heart trouble in 
St. John's Hospital. She was born in Windham, Conn., and had lived at 673 
Halsey street. She was a demonstrator of appliances for the Long Island City 
Gas Company, and was a member of the American Frugality Society. Mrs. RICH 
was deeply interested in benevolent work. She is survived by her aunt, Mrs. 
Elizabeth BINGHAM, who lives in Windham, Conn. Interment will be at Morrisville, N.Y.

Adelaide A. WHITE, employed in a Fulton street bakery, died suddenly last 
Thursday at herhome, 59 Fort Greene place. She was 71 years old and is 
survived by a half sister. The funeral services will be held to-day with 
cremation following at the U.S. Crematory, Middle Village.

Mary NEUREITER, for many years a resident of Brooklyn, died at her home, 2901 
Newkirk avenue, last Friday. She was the wife of August NEUREITER, and the 
daughter of Patrick and Johannah LOWDER. Mrs. NEUREITER was at one time a 
member of St. Patrick's Church. For the past ten years she hasbeen a member 
of St. Jerome's Church. She is survived, beside her husband and parents, one 
son, Arthur; one sister, Mrs. George HEENAN, and two brothers, Marks and 
Cornelius. There will be a solemn requiem mass next Tuesday at 10 A.M. at St. 
Jerome's Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of 
John MADDEN, of 628 Myrtle avenue.

George BERAU, son of the late Agnes  BERAU and Henry BERAU, contractor, died 
last Thursday at his home, 431 Willard avenue, Woodhaven. He was born in 
Brooklyn forty-five years ago and had been connected with the circculation 
department of the New York Times. He was a member of Old Erie Lodge, F. and 
A.M., Mahon (cut off) ..ing Chapter, No. 39, K.T. (cut off) all of Warren 
Ohio, where he had lived a number of years. Mr. BERAU is survived  by his 
widow, Vivian WINTER BERAU; two sons, Edwin and George, and six brothers, 
Henry, Frederick, August, Phillip, Rudolph and Edward. The funeral services 
will be held at 2 P.M. to-day at his late home, Star of Hope Lodge, No. 430, 
F. and A.M., officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Johanne FRICKE, who died on Saturday at her home, 701 Bergen street, after a 
lingering illness, was born in Denmark sixty years ago and had been a

Albert HALL, husband of Ida HALL, died yesterday at his home, 7112 Tenth 
avenue, after a lingering illness. Mr. HALL was born in Manhattan on Oct. 22, 
1874, and had been connected with the Postoffice Department for ten years. He 
is survived by his widow, Ida; a daughter, Genevieve; his mother Julia A. 
HALL; three brothers, William, Fred and Robert, and four sisters, Mrs. Julia 
A. PROULS, Mrs. Lillie SARLES, Mrs. Mabel WOOLSEY and Elizabeth HALL. Funeral 
services will be held at his late residence on Wednesday.

Louis F. BLATT, son of Anna and the late John BLATT, died suddenly at 
Callicoon, N.Y. on Saturday. He was born in Germany sixteen years ago and had 
lived in Brooklyn practically all his life. The funeral will be held from his

Benjamin F. BRINDLEY, an inspector in the Department of Builgings and 
formerly an inspector in the Board of Education and the Board of Water 
Supply, died yesterday at his home, 8666 Twenty-first avenue. He was born in 
Manhattan fifty years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for ten years. 
He was a member of the Inspectors Association and is survived by his widow, 
Catherin; his father, Benjamin F.; three brothers, Lieut. Nicholas BRINDLEY, 
of the New York Police Department; Charles, in the War Department, and 
Frederick F., and one sister, Lucy E. Funeral services will be held to-morrow 
at 1:30 P.M. at his late home. Interment at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.

KILLED AT CROSSING BY ELECTRIC EXPRESS
 Jacob CAUTIERI, of Hawthorne avenue and Flynn road, Howard Beach, 
Ramblersville, Queens, was struck and instantly killed last night by an 
electric express train of the Long Island Railroad at Jerome avenue crossing 
at Ozone Park. The body was taken to Ruoff's morgue. Ozone Park.

Thomas V. HANNON, Jr., son of Thomas and Alice KEHOE HANNON, died yesterday 
at the home of his parents, 466 Sixteenth street, after a brief illness. He 
was born in Brooklyn, aand besides his parents he is survived by three 
sisters. The funeral will be held from his late residence to-morrow at 2:30 
P.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of John M. DUFFY's 
Sons, of 432A Fourth avenue.

Bernard W. DOWD died at his home, 602 Eleventh street, yesterday, after a 
brief illness. He was born in the old Twelfth Ward sixty-four years ago and 
when a young man learned the stone cutting trade and did much work in the 
construction of the State Capitol at Albany. Later he was made keeper in the 
old pentitentiary under Warden HAYES and for the past ten years had been a 
keeper in the City Prison on Raymond street. He was a member of Holy Family 
Church, Ninth and Prospect avenue. He is survived by two sons, James, an 
employee in the Navy Yard, and Bernard, attached to the Brooklyn Detective 
Bureau; four daughters, Mrs. SWEENEY, Mrs. O'KEEFFE and Catherine and 
Margaret DOWD, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary WHITE and Mrs. Jane KELLY. The 
funeral will be held Wednesday morning with a mass of requiem in Holy Family 
Church at 10 o'clock. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Patrick MCINTYRE, who died on Saturday at his residence, 258 Classon avenue, 
was born in Ireland and for the past forty-five years had lived in this 
country. He was a regular attendant of St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Kent and 
Willoughby avenues, where a mass of requiem will be celebrated to-morrow at 
10 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, 
Elizabeth, and three sons and four daughters. John W. MADDEN of 628 Myrtle 
avenue has charge of the arrangements.

Jacob BAER, who died yesterday at his home, 2717 Myrtle avenue, was born in 
Germany sixty-two years ago and is survived by four sons, Jacob, Jr., in the 
U.S. Navy; Christisn; Charles, who is in U.S. Army in France, and Henry; two 
daughters, Mrs. Barbara LANGHAUS and Mrs. Katie SEIDEL, and ten 
grandchildren. The funeral will be held to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock from 
the chapel of John K. WEIGAND, 768 Fresh Pond road. Interment at Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. P. WEIGAND, well known in Brooklyn, died Sarurday at her home in 
Westchester avenue, Portchester. She is survived by one son, John, and six 
daughters, Mrs. L. MERTZ, Mrs. G. MERTZ, Mrs. John CARR, of New Haven; Mrs. 
W. PAPP, and the Misses A., T. and P. WEIGAND. Mrs. WEIGAND was 85 years old 
and had lived in Portchester for sixty-two years. The funeral will be held to-morrow.

William V. STACK died yesterday in the Norwegian Hospital following an 
accident on board a ship on which he was employed on Friday. He was the 
husband of Lillian ARMSTRONG STACK, and besides hiw widow is survived by his 
daughter, Dorothy; two brothers, James and John, and seven sisters, Bessie, 
Mabel, Mary, Mrs. M. MCCORMACK, Mrs. F. GOODAY, Mrs. J.H. NEILSON and Mrs. 
ANDERSON. The funeral will be held to-morrow at 9:30 A.M., with the 
celebration of requiem mass in St. Francis Assisi R.C. Church. Interment at

Clara L. SIMPSON, widow of John SIMPSON, for some years Republican leader in 
the old Twelfth Assembly District, Manhattan, died on Saturday at the home of 
her nephew, George S. FELD, 1114 Avenue G. She was born in Manhattan 
sixty-six years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for eighteen years. 
She is survived, besides her nephew, by one sister, Mrs. George STORM. 
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the home of her nephew, with 
interment at Lutheran Cemetery.

The remains of John Francis GILLIGAN, who died yesterday at St. Anthony's 
Hospital, will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery at 2 P.M. Wednesday. He was 
born in Brooklyn forty-seven years ago, a son of the late Thomas and Mary 
GILLIGAN, and is survived by a widow, Jeannette OSBOURNE; two children, 
George and Margaret, and one brother, Eugene.

Albert F. D'OENCH, one of the best known architects in the United States died 
on Saturday at his country estate at Manhasset after a long illness. He was 
born in Brooklyn sixty-five years ago and was educated in the Polytechnic 
Institute and later studied abroad. In 1876 he began the practice of his 
profession in New York, retiring two years ago. He was the designer of a 
number of large office buildings in Manhattan, including the old Germania 
Life Insurance Building. He lived at 35 East Seventy-second street, 
Manhattan, and is survived by his widow, Alice, and one son, Russell.

William RYAN died last night at his home, 375 Hoyt street. He was born in 
County Limerick, Ireland, sixty years ago and is survived by three daughters, 
Mrs. GIBNEY, Mrs. LUTZ and Margaret RYAN, and two sisters and one brother in 
Ireland. The funeral will be held from his late home at 9:30 A.M. to-morrow, 
thence to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, where requiem mass will be 
celebrated at 10 o'clock. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of
